Gun and gear reviews Adler Arms 597 Adapter vs SBI Adapter

Post image

Alder Arms adapter works well with 22 rnd mag but it does not fit the 30 rnd rotary mag.

SBI adapter works well with both. No Jams, FTE or FTF with CCI mini mags. 200 rnds no issue.

The 597 drum mag doesn’t fit in the adapter that comes with the Adler?

I had to do a bit of sanding on mine

For some reason it doesnt fit the drum mag. Not sure if the promag was changed or the adapter just sucks. The Sbi one is the way to go

What i did personally was sand my drums so they operate smoothly with the RF224 adapter. There is also a bit of technique, you need to pull on an angle. Now when I use them with my SBI adapter, I absolutely have to have the bolt open when inserting or else the drum falls out on the first shot. Having used the SBI adapter though I greatly prefer it for both my 10/22 and my RF224. For whatever reason it actually seems to work better. I can empty a drum without a hiccough probably 50% of the time. I guess some people hate that , but I hate the 22 round mags so much I almost refuse to try them again

i went through 3 fills of both drums today, 180 rounds and had 2 misfires. Had to manually cycle the bolt a couple more times on top of that. If either style of mag were available anywhere id probably pick up another.

As someone who just bought the RF224 and 1000 rounds of mini-mag, this brings me joy.

Ripping off the SBI adapter was a pretty shitty thing for north sylva to do. It's also clearly a knockoff.

I have a RF224 and the knock off adapter is shit. The SBI one works way better. I use the 22 round mags and OG 30 round Remington ones.

Also, mini-mags are the only thing that seems to run in the RF224.

I think it depends on the specific RF224 - in mine, the mags are a few mm larger than genuine Ruger magazines, so the SBI adapter is loose, and genuine mags don’t feed well. So I use the knockoff one in my RF224.

I noticed on OP’s photo that his adapter has a rounded cut at the top. Is that new? Mine does not, and as a result mine has some strike marks on it.
