Buy recommendations Looking to buy a .306

I’m looking to buy my first 30-06 but I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed by the options. I’m looking for something under 1K but don’t know where to go from there. Any advice on brands/what I should avoid? (Edited because I am newer to this and put .306 instead of 30-06)

Thank you everyone for the input. I’m looking to start with hunting deer and move on to elk afterwards. Factory ammo to start and maybe somewhere down the line self load.

Lots of options, then. Please comment on expected hunting distances, whether blind/stand or expecting much hiking/staalking, and the optics plan/budget.

Are there any preferred gun stores in your region we can tailor recommendations for?
