Buy recommendations Looking to buy a .306

I’m looking to buy my first 30-06 but I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed by the options. I’m looking for something under 1K but don’t know where to go from there. Any advice on brands/what I should avoid? (Edited because I am newer to this and put .306 instead of 30-06)

As a big fan of 30-06 in both its function and history - can i ask why you are leaning towards this round as well as:

  • intended use
  • actual/realistic distances you will be shooting
  • do you plan or reloading or factory ammo for foreseeable future?

  • optic/sights if you already have, or have plans for, that.

I've been helping out with the same question as OP and have a recent "cheap reputable" list with various tradeoffs; no point offering options until those questions are answered.
