Ontario is actually low on per capita. BC is really a shit show tho, they have a little over 5 million people yet they gave away more than half of what Ontario gave up.
No wonder they voted the NDP government again and again…..

Ya but the number is telling a different story. Vancouver urban areas are not very gun friendly let’s just say that. Everybody is wearing lululemon and Arc’teryx. Giving free drugs to homeless whatnot….
I don't know man, I was at one of the gun store in Vancouver and one of the customer was Asian female in her 20s getting her transferred pistol back in 2022.
Many gun stores were quite packed prior to Dec 2024.
I would assume the actual numbers of NR prohibited in BC and Alberta are way higher.
We don’t have the data so can’t really tell. I agree that they may have more NR rifle but BC and ON are both highly urbanized. The fact BC gave away a lot more than half of what ON gave with only one third of ON population. That ratio tells you BC is much more cooperative than ON. Even by gun per PAL holder, BC gun owners surrender way more firearms.
While that might be true, it probably has to do with number of disposal income for those 2 provinces.
If you have a collection and some have restricted, people might want to get rid of it so the Fed don't come for their licenses after Oct and still holding on their NR. While it might not look good for BC, but the total number is still less than what we anticipated.
I doubt the government will publish a number of NR vs R they collected, because that will have a better context here.
I have 4 restricted that worth 10k alone, and I choose not to do anything with it. That kind of money is not someone can easily give up since that easy 3 months of rent and groceries in BC.
Yeah I have one on the list and I'll be taking a zipcut to it instead of handing it in. Some of my coworkers did register wanting some money to put towards other guns etc but I doubt they will see a dime if it ever gets to the day they hand them over.
In all fairness the only reason I'd surrender my one NR that's now prohibited is because of the money I have in other firearms that would suck to lose if my license was revoked etc.
My one PCC is a drop in the bucket in value compared to two of my shotguns alone.
Hey man, I don’t think BC owes anyone an apology. It’s wrong to banned lawfully owned firearms but you can’t blame people for reducing the financial damage infected by the government itself.
I agree with you. Not all of us are fortunate enough to afford sitting on thousands of dollars worth of paper weights.
I am not sure that's where they are based, the stores could be in BC, but manufacturing could be in another province or country.
My previous comment just means that while Vancouver appears to be somewhat anti gun, but the actual number of PAL holders and the number of guns they own is quite significant compare to other provinces.
So it's somewhat plausible that you might have see a higher number of declarations from BC and AB. However, I am sure there are crap load of NR prohibited as well that people aren't declaring.
