Application / Regulation advice Question about getting a PAL

I’ve went to a sports center the other day, and asked the cashier about firearms. He told me that someone needed to be 18 but I could get one, I just needed to follow the pamphlet they gave me. I am still a minor. One of their things in the pamphlet was that I needed to do a safety test? Which I did pay for but I didn’t not compete yet as it takes 5 hours. If I do the 5 hours + the other step and succeed then I can legally get a firearm?

You have to take the course, pass the written and practical tests, then forward your certification from the CFSC along with an application to the Canadian firearms program, along with your references, passport photo, and other requirements. Then you have to wait for them to do a complete background check, and make a decision based on your application.

The timeframe from finishing the course to holding the license in my hand was roughly 10 months. Only once you have the card in your hand can you purchase a firearm.
