Feets / Collection / My build Big booms and little barrels.

Sighted in my Marlin 1895 and it only cost me $100 in ammo!

Love that Marlin lever action finish and its classic silhouette!

p.s. I think I just bought the exact same Cabelas soft case, too. I hope you like yours

I got the case for free with a rifle purchase, it has no branding on it. The shotgun fits perfect in the front which is pretty nifty.

Yeah, that front mini-case looks ideal for a Mares Leg shottie! How cool is that.

Does the bag also come with backpack straps?

Yes that’s the one! It’s not as comfy as a backpack but I’ve used it to hike short distances to shooting spots before.

And have you tried the bag as a makeshift shooting mat?

If the ground is dry, it will help keep your spent casings out of the leaves

I’ve used one I care for less for that purpose. The back of my truck worked well for that until I found out shooting from a stationary vehicle was actually illegal.

Have you tried a moving vehicle, LOLOL

I’ve left that lifestyle behind.

It’s definitely a good idea to help collect empties! I hate picking brass out of the snow.

I also got the identical case free with a gun purchase... if it's ths same gun from RDSC then I feel your pain brother

Yes it was.

And it hurts.

I can still play GI Joe in my house and you can’t put a price on that!

I forget what it was called… something I sold a a few years ago to some guy….

Those little shotguns are fun…but concussive! Whatever about the actual recoil, I’m a bit of a masochist for recoil, but damn those shorties are hard on the head with full-house loads. I’ve had a 14 inch pump gun and 12 inch side by side and they rattle your cage pretty good…all the more with 3 inch goose shells and no hearing protection, firing both barrels at the same time (when I was younger and dumber) 😅.

“Dang that’s loud!”

“What?”

“It’s loud!”

“What about the cloud?”

“No, no, LOUD!!!”

“Oh yes, the snow has been plowed….”

I don’t mind it with my ear muffs on, but I forgot I wasn’t wearing them once and I could best describe the noise as a “sharp crack”. I’ve also one handed a 3” steel shot slug, that one is probably coming back in a few years.

Nice set! Did you have to modify the magpul forend to fit the shotgun? I’m looking to get a 14” conversion kit for my 590 but not sure if my mods will fit.

1

u/DonAzuld Apr 05 '26

Yes I had to shave out the inside to make it fit. There are some YouTube guides on how to do it.

With a push/pull grip it’s surprisingly easy to shoot. But it takes some getting used to.

5 shots cost 100$?

There are 6 holes in the target paper, two are touching.

I tested out 300g and 405g, then went back and forth and the wrong way once. Those groups added up painfully quick.

Hahaha ive been there.

2

u/fishinguy44 Apr 05 '26

Do you have 2 of the same guns in 45-70?

3

u/DonAzuld Apr 05 '26

One is the Marlin 336 in 30-30 and the other is the 1895 in 45-70. Practically identical visually.

1

u/iatekane Apr 05 '26

Ejection port shape is the biggest giveaway between the 45-70 and 30-30 chambered models
