Misc New to shooting, fearful of ear damage

Interested and excited to start this hobby/pastime. But am fearful of the damage to ears, I already purchased some walker xcel 500 headphones for outdoor shooting and was going to double up. Wondering if there is anything else I can do or if I should just not worry

If you're at an indoor range or shooting with other people next to you, double up with ear plugs and ear muffs.

If you're shooting by yourself outdoors, you can get by with single ear protection. I always double-up anyways.

With plugs + muffs you'll be fine. The only other thing you can do is get custom made ear plugs from an audiolgist (which are awesome), but they're going to give you more of a benefit for comfort and fot vs noise reduction.
