The reporter asked what guns were used in the school shooting. They won't release that info just yet. Gee, wonder why.

That’s a feature, not a bug for them.

9

u/MustardTiger88 Apr 02 '26

Good ol' Brenda Lucky and Bill Blair, the shining stars of that scandal. They willingly compromised the investigation, pushing/collaborating to release the models used in the massacre so they could use it to justify the ridiculous first round of bans.

Guns were clearly a bigger priority for the Trudeau government. One characteristic of the Trudeau government was a complete disregard for the separation of power and a willingness to exert inappropriate pressure to curry favour for their political agenda. Among others, Chief Superintendent Darren Campbell I'm no fan of the LPC but Carney is arguably more focused on actual problems.

Guns are a big priority for the Carney government too. Do not think otherwise. They are full steam ahead on this trainwreck and they've had every opportunity to stop it.

8

u/turitelle Apr 02 '26

Carney was Trudeau’s advisor. He’s a climate activist, WEF globalist stooge and he’s done nothing but fly around the world doing photo ops and munching on gourmet food while Canadians are lining up at food banks. he’s had a year to do something… anything. I really don’t know why people keep giving him a pass.

3

u/hitmanhux Apr 02 '26

I agree with you and I feel like he doesn't care much, but he's letting his party "save face" and is moving it forward.

I like Carney infinitely more then Trudeau but he gets no flowers from me until he does the logical thing and repeal it

9

u/boozefiend3000 Apr 02 '26

So, he’ll be getting no flowers

1

u/hitmanhux Apr 02 '26

100% correct

6

u/__phil1001__ Apr 02 '26

So the reporter should have followed up and said, these were not AR style weapons.

u/grathontolarsdatarod Apr 01 '26

Could add that a "buy back" assumes that the stuff you bought belonged to the government in the first place.

This is a gigantic confiscation of private property. Period.

Never heard of this guy before this post. Didn't see or hear about him on CBC.

But reading this seems like the guy is talking sound logic.

I don't see how these laws and regulations are standing.

Whatever happened to the woes of populism when trump and harper were using the same tactics?

This program is populism at its most distilled.

u/MustardTiger88 Apr 01 '26

Hopefully the Supreme Court doesn't fail us and all Canadians when this is put forth to them.

11

u/hectop20 Apr 02 '26

I would be very surprised if the Supreme Court found against the government.

4

u/Braddock54 Apr 02 '26

I wouldn't be. It's a huge overreach of government on people's property rights, with zero empirical evidence to support what they are doing. I'd be shocked if the courts didn't find against government. I bet no one thought they would rule as they did in the case of convoy related overreaches.

u/grathontolarsdatarod Apr 01 '26

Honestly....

For the sake of preserving democracy, if somehow a penance could be paid to save it, I'd tolerate a prohib class until a natural die off.

I personally think that with the way the entire world is going, having no potentiality for an armed population is not forward thinking.

But you can just completely de-market billions and billions of dollars of paid for property. You just can't.

13

u/37BJJ Apr 02 '26

There should be no toleration at all actually and settling for a natural die off is ground we would never get back. Unacceptable.

0

u/grathontolarsdatarod Apr 02 '26

I truly do want that.

I just feel that they will burn the house down to do this.

They seem to be dismantling democracy at every turn.

I won't be taking anything of mine anywhere. Even if the worst happens.

At best they can show up to my house to a box full of chopped up metal.

u/Admirable-Site7256 Apr 02 '26

"preserving democracy"

Uhhh with all due respect, have you not been paying attention for the last 6 years?

What the Liberals have been doing in regards to firearms is, at best, manipulation of our democracy.

However, I think its more akin to blatant disrespect and abuse of our democracy and they've just been allowed to get away with it for years. Hell, Canadians have rewarded them for it by repeatedly voting in an LPC government.

Yup, the funding was for 136,000 guns. And then they moved the goal post to claim that the total amount of guns out there is 136,000.

Here are some facts they won't mention:

For the 2020 list ALONE, the RCMP's database showed 108,047 registered, then-restricted firearms that became prohibited. Extrapolating it to then-non-restricted firearms, CSAAA estimated that 518,000 firearms in total were banned by the 2020 OIC.

Source: Parliamentary Budget Officer Report, 2021

And now we extrapolate to the 2024/25 bans, which included a LOT of NR firearms with the notable exception of the M1 Carbine, which is mostly restricted. The RCMP did not disclose the amount of impacted then-restricted firearms for the 24/25 OICs.

13

u/MustardTiger88 Apr 01 '26

In the millions I bet.

9

u/Acceptable_Visit_115 Apr 01 '26

Yup, the number most commonly floated around is ~2 million.

6

u/NEUMANN-METALWORKS Neumann Metalworks Apr 02 '26

Looking at the 2025 ban list makes me so sad, it's just a bunch of experimental guns that hardly anyone owned and old WW2 era rifles, most notably the SVT-40 and the M1 variants. Stupid as fuck lol

2

u/Acceptable_Visit_115 Apr 02 '26

It's very obvious that the 2025 ban is 100% feature-driven: Centerfire detachable magazine semiauto long guns with more than 5 round max capacity.

You know what else prohibits centerfire detachable magazine semiauto long guns with more than 5 rounds of max designed capacity? The new "prohibited firearm" provisions added by C21 in December 2023.

They know the C21 clause was not enough to cover all the bases, so they retroactively enforced it via an OIC.

Why’s the electorate in this country have to be so pathetically dumb?

46

u/Fine-Tie2651 Apr 01 '26

It’s the boomers. The exit poll data was pretty clear. Most boomers are just chilling in their retirement and don’t have any real problems. Back in the 60s the news was seen as a highly reliable source. Nowadays that has shifted, but to boomers the news is still gospel so they’ll believe whatever they’re told.

19

u/[deleted] Apr 01 '26

I'm sure most of them are boomers, but there is also a ton of {I'm assuming younger voters} in the guarding sub and the buddy hoser sub, that are blind to the liberals corruption.

20

u/Fine-Tie2651 Apr 01 '26

Yes, although don’t take reddit to be a representation of real life. People in those subs are the most extremes of the extremes

7

u/[deleted] Apr 01 '26

honestly, I'm only in reddit for the news and porn. outside of this sub, I don't take anything seriously. i actually deleted my older account when i found out how bad the censorship was on reddit. nothing is to be taken seriously here, and even echo chambers can be manufactured here as well.

When there's a sock on the door knob, it means you're making love to the other one?

5

Back in the 60s the news was seen as a highly reliable source.

they where doing BS fear mongering stories about guns in canada back then too

Good article. Thanks HGG!

10

u/Apples_and_Overtones Your feet suck and so do you Apr 01 '26

Excellent article! I'd hope that mainstream media looks at it but that's highly doubtful. We get to combat all the lies and misinfo while the government can go on tv and spout BS that everyone takes as gospel. It's ridiculous.

Sensationalism gets clicks and outlets don't lose credibility for publishing misinformation. It's a bad combo.

Great write up hunting gear guy. I love the content.

u/Weak-Coffee-8538 Apr 02 '26

Media outlets talk about the 2020 shooter in all articles BUT never talk about that he was prohibited from owning one and couldn't get a firearm license because of his record and all his firearms were illegal from down south.

Thus all the LPC gun bans since the 1970s wouldn't have done anything to stop the 2020 mass shooter. The rcmp doing their jobs would have stopped him.

BUT the news/media never talk about that very very important fact.

4

u/truthdoctor bc Apr 02 '26

Keep These articles coming, Adriel. Here is some evidence to bolster your points:

Canada's public safety minister who is championing the bans and confiscation in public admitted in private recordings that the program won't work, is wrongly targeting legal owners who aren't the problem and is purely being carried out for political votes in Quebec.

Legal firearms do not present a significant threat to society:

The sources of crime guns in Canada:

Statistically, the firearms seized on urban streets are handguns that are traced back to the U.S. 8-9/10 times. The other 1/10 are mostly untraceable):

In Ontario, 91 percent of handguns recovered from crimes in 2024 came in illegally from the United States, according to the provincial government. In Toronto, 88 percent of all firearms recovered from crimes in 2024 were smuggled across the border. The actual figures are almost certainly higher because many recovered guns have been tampered with to make them untraceable, the police said.

By and large, the guns found on the streets aren’t stolen or purchased from stores or even from legal gun owners, but rather smuggled in over the border.

More than 50% of illicit firearms are coming from the US, but now 1/3rd are being made by criminals themselves and the rest are mostly stolen or illegally obtained.

Banning specific types of firearms does not increase public safety:

Laws that strengthen background checks and permit-to-purchase seemed to decrease firearm homicide rates. Specific laws directed at firearm trafficking, improving child safety, or the banning of military-style assault weapons were not associated with changes in firearm homicide rates.

The government explicitly states that firearms can be owned and used for hunting, target shooting, plinking, sport shooting or recreation in addition to self defense against wild animals. In fact, some job REQUIRE them. These include forestry, rail, oil & gas workers and miners in remote areas as well as armed security. These are all legitimate purposes for having firearms.

The Trudeau government believed semi-automatic AR type rifles are absolutely needed for hunting and self defense against bears, wolves, mountain lions and moose which is why they issued their conservation and fisheries officers AR-10 rifles while stating as much. Then they banned them for civilians to use for hunting claiming these AR-10 rifles can't be used for hunting; except that the first nations are currently exempt from the ban and can still use them for...HUNTING.

The amnesty period allows for the continued use of previously non-restricted firearms in limited circumstances (for example, by Indigenous persons exercising Aboriginal or treaty rights to hunt and by those who hunt or trap to sustain themselves or their families), until the end of the amnesty period.

Thank you for the article. I missed the CBC interview.

Hopefully I make it CHAS for another mini-rifle comp this year.

Who watches tv these days anyways?

Hey HGG

Thanks for your work in spreading knowledge. I’ve heard about you long before I first got on the sub.

Have you seen this paper that was posted to the sub a week ish ago? https://macdonaldlaurier.ca/off-target-evaluating-post-2019-changes-to-canadas-gun-control-laws/

Backs up your points very well.
