IPSC has to be the most Gate kept shooting discipline in Canada. The fact you can't get a black badge without a handgun will see it die the fastest here.

Basically an old boys club that refuses to innovate at least for IPSC Ontario. It's been 4 years of almost no new blood in the sport and when members try to get more people in via dropping handgun requirements it's just a wave of excuses like "no interest in .22lr or shotgun stages", "we need to align with other Sub-Regions", "The laws will change eventually", etc

Yep. I looked into it for shotgun but it's next to impossible here in onterrible.

Hence why I got way more into clays.

Have seen tons of new people in clay tournaments, PRS matches, Steel matches, and milsurp matches but every 3 gun match the same old faces.

We’ve been holding BB courses every 1-2 months. Our clients have access to rental firearms and rigs to complete it. Doing our best to keep the sport alive!

The sad fact Montreal, the very reason the bans are still being pushed through, has this but Ontario doesn't.

That’s good - more clubs and ranges need to start facilitating rentals or loaners or find a way to make handguns more accessible for IPSC courses.

Or ideally, IPSC drops the requirement for handguns in Canada and makes a shotgun and mini rifle certification for newcomers.

Depending on your region they have already done this. Shotgun specific stuff will come.

I'm hoping to do a mini rifle one next month

Ironic that Montreal is doing this when all IPSC Ontario can do is bitch and moan... Keep up the good work guys!

They were working on a PCC BB. Were.

What's left for PCC other than the homesteader and 22s?

1

u/ProtoJazz Apr 02 '26

22s aren't considered PCC as far as IPSC goes

1

u/BrotherLefthand Apr 02 '26

So we've got no real options?

Semi auto 22s fall under the mini rifle division

They ran PCC BB courses before the most recent ban.

In quebec city there is some ipsc shotgun trainings and matches all around this summer, they even rent handguns or shotguns with belts and holders for trainings, some clubs even let people rent them for matches. Ontario should read the room.

Should but don't. Even the few ranges that have some IPSC style stuff are so Gate kept unless you know someone you won't be getting in.

That Sad. In Qc they now lease pistols so people are able to make their BB course. They also rent pistol and shotgun in some 3gun match.

How do you like the Mossberg 940 ?

I really love mine. Zero jam in a thousand round. Mixed of clay and slugs

3

u/Specialist_Chard5231 Apr 02 '26

They are not popular in action shotgun sports. They have a reputation of jamming.

We’ve only heard positive reviews concerning the JM Pro!

Google JM 940 jams or read brian enos. It's common knowledge at this point. Only Jerry can get them to run.

How do you like your jm? I like mine but the fore end/front stock is a bit loose. Can’t figure out how to make it tighter. I’ve had 5 jams in a 600rds

It’s a Mossberg, it’s supposed to be loose lol.
