One of my favorite quotes of all time, liberties are rarely given back. I made gunowner friends from Australia and they all wished they had more guts when things came down to it.

Police come door to door in Australia to make sure everyone is complying with regulations, along with other massive overreach.

I looked it up, and you’re right. It is indeed a poem called “To The States”. I think the issue above is the way it’s formatted doesn’t come across as a poem, just a clunky paragraph.
