Feets / Collection / My build Non-prohibited “Night fighting” gun setups?

I recently acquired a PVS14 and was curious what rifle setups people are running right now. I realize most decent rifles are prohibited but I was looking for some recommendations with the current market. Thanks!

Yeah that’s what I figured. I was seriously considering building an sks until I realized how bad that would be haha. Thanks for the insight

Not really I’d just prefer to practice with larger rounds. Once I recover some of my funds I’ll kit out a tm22 or homesteader

Pump or semi shotgun like others said maybe homesteader or alcor or chimera 223. Also sks but ya sks. Nothings else too good unless you want some cope crap and even Alcore and chimera copey lil crappy

Do you own the alcor or chimera I’m trying to find some first hand experience with either and it seems like a 50/50 split

with Turkish stuff its always 50/50. They have horrible quality control

Chimera. But if you are ok with pump action copes I’d recommend the SCSA taipan X.

My Alcor has been okay. I'd run the homesteader with a Midwest handguard. My Alcor shoots reliably depending on the magazine(duramag has no issues in mine), although I only have a few hundred rounds through it as of yet. I can't confirm long term reliability yet.

My homesteader though. Nearly 5000 rounds and not a single hiccup regardless of magazine. I use glock mags.

I’m debating whether to get a homesteader or a MRA renegade next. The possibility of bans just makes buying shit so difficult

The way I see it. You may as well buy what you'd like and enjoy it. Living life under the dark cloud of the list is not fun. If they ban things like the Ruger 1 and Benelli M3 super 90 but didn't ban the m4 and 1301 mod 2, then you shouldn't give any thought to what might get banned next. Realistically. They want them all gone, and anything semi or has too little wood will get banned first.

If you want a homesteader, just go for it, and shoot it as much as you can like it will get banned tomorrow. That's what I do.

Let's be honest they're really horny for the SKS over everything else right now anyways.

Yeah well said. I guess I’ll look into the homesteader. It’s made by my favourite gun manufacturer anyway

I’ll eventually get both once I recover from buying my PVS14 but I was thinking of getting the alcor or chimera to practice with larger rounds

Full power IR lasers often have a lot of splash and make for difficult aiming unless pair with an IR illuminator. Also: passive aiming with a proper optic like an aim point acro is very doable, easy to zero, with no emissions down range. You just need to train with it.

I've got a Perst-3 that's definitely not eye-safe. But I suppose getting the Russian stuff these days might not be as easy as it once was

SMSlaser offerings have a high power mode that's pretty spicy. I think it may be close to 30mW on the HFXC. So yeah, not remotely eye safe.

They're fun.

They're also cheap as hell.

You 100% do not need a full-power 3B laser; 3R lasers will work just fine in 90% of conditions.
And for the larping here, comm-grade lasers will work in 110% of scenarios.
Holosun, Laserspeed, HMXC, SMS, and any other 3B/3R Chinese lasers can be easily sourced up here - including those rebranded Newcon lasers from Laserspeed.
Used market boasts old PEQ units, DBALs, and Perst units every so often if you keep your eyes peeled.
GSCI is now making a laser unit too, in Canada, but seemingly only being sold to mil/le
