Gun and gear reviews Vortex Spitfire 3x Gen 1 - Thoughts?

Many people here have this optic? There’s one near me locally used for $300, but even that seems steep. Cabelas has them for $500+hst, but I seem to remember them going on sale for like $299.

Should I buy it for $300, or save the money for something else (for plinking mostly inside 100 yards)

I bought two during the last Bass Pro sale for only $305 CAD each. They are a bit large, so I am having trouble finding many guns that they fit well.

I did put one on my Adler RF225, and it looks proportionally okay; it would likely be fine on a full-sized tactical rifle as well. It is much smaller than a traditional scope of course.

However, for my latest build, a 10/22 in a Midwest Industries 8" chassis. I ended up getting a Primary Arms SLx 5x MicroPrism scope instead. It is about a third of the size of the Vortex Gen 1, and you get so much magnification in such a small package. The 3x MicroPrism is even cheaper and priced comparably to the Vortex Gen 1.

Thanks for all the info! Definitely going to look into the primary arms!
