Buy recommendations Optics recommendations for 30.30 survival rifle?

Just purchased this folding Chiappa Big Badger in 30.30.
looking for any sight/optics recommendations, wont be shooting anything north of 150yd, so low power scopes, red dot types etc. would be my assumed preference.
Low profile is a winner, because of the compact nature of the gun.

Sounds like N LPVO would be great for you.

1-4 or 1-6 should be more than enough zoom for your needs, while still being great up close.

Only downside is a lot of them are quite heavy, probably more heavy than the gun pictured. So I'd check that while shopping. Leupold makes some lightweight scopes (12oz or less) like the VX Freedom 2-7 or 3-9, or you may be better off with a red dot.

A light 2-7 sounds pretty good,  I didn't realize the lpvos were so heavy! In that  case a 2-7 sounds way better

More heavy than the gun was a bit of an exaggeration but they are often overbuilt. I have the Vortex Viper PST 1-6x24 on my Henry 30-30. While I love the glass, reticle, and features like illumination, it is 22 ounces not including rings or rail. Not too bad for me on a traditional tube-fed lever action, but I think it would feel really unwieldy on a super light single shot like this.

Light fixed 4x, I'm a big fan of weaver because I'm poor and if you're not there's much better in an ACOG

How are they for shock rating? Thinking this will have some hectic shock force travelling down the gun when it's shot

Heh they were the scope of choice for the 70s 7mm rem mag craze. It'll do 3030 no trouble. Either of them.

I just got the 5x microprism, it's pretty nifty to have so much magnification in such a small package.

I got it off of a buy and sell website, looks like most of the stores in Canada didn't have any stock but i didn't look very hard

For the type of gun it is, a red dot or a prism sight. You need something with a low profile mount to get a good cheek weld, and you're not shooting far anyways.

Red dot vs prism is going to come down to do you prefer something lighter weight vs something that has an etched reticle for when the battery dies?

Perhaps a 3x or 5x microprism and optional red dot? Or you can also get a red dot + magnifier combo but at that point a LPVO would probably be better.

1-6 lpvo is what I run, and I can shoot thru the same hole at 120-150, or atleast tangent hole groups.

You’ll find out quick that the wire stock doesn’t give a good firm grip. Somebody needs to make a 3d printed ‘full girth’ grip for it.

Yeah, it surprises me how thin that aspect is. You'd think it would be a bit more bomber.. I might dink around with it and try a few things with rubber
