Gary is just a muppet. Someone has their hand up his ass moving his mouth. The guy is dumber than dogshit when it comes to firearms and he knows it. He also doesn't give a shit. He follows the script he's been given, (clearly written by Provost). I would imagine if Gary were given the opportunity for a different cabinet position he would take it in a heartbeat just so he wouldn't have to deal with that see-you-next-Tuesday.

I'm pretty sure this is a pretty accurate take. I think Gary is there to be the scapegoat if/when this shit fails hard.

Someone else said a very interesting thing here, a couple days ago. The had a theory that Gary was just put in to be the public face since putting Natalie in this position would look like a huge conflict of interest. Gary probably got promised a sweet gig after to take all this shit and in a little while they can move Nat into this position by saying, "She's been an MP for a while learning from Gary so its all good"

I just don't get the hard-on Liberals have for Poly. How did this gun-control group get so much influence and sway in the liberal party ? The Liberals seemed to have manufactured a problem and a solution for no particular reason. If they never went down this route, I feel like no one would have really cared. I don't think there voter base would have given a shit either way. I anecdotally never saw wide spread calls for gun control. I thought it was pretty well known our laws were fine as-is pre-2020. The whole thing just seems so weird that a small minority of people was able to such a huge influence.

It’s more about the ongoing global disarmament agenda that is part of UN agenda 21/2030.

6

u/redditbrowser1029 Mar 28 '26

This is the true answer.

13

u/DarkenemyxXx Mar 27 '26

Maybe just maybe there is a deeper meaning to all of this. Maybe not … But…?

15

u/sl33plessnites Mar 27 '26

Who knows. This government isn't very transparent. They won't even release the gun used in Tumbler Ridge. It obviously conflicts with their messaging in some way. I guarantee they'll release that info after March 31st after the declaration period has ended so they don't have to answer any hard questions from reporters in the last week of declaration.

11

u/DarkenemyxXx Mar 28 '26

Yeah they’ll definitely wait till it’s convenient for them.

11

u/Low-Maintenance9 Mar 28 '26

The Liberals have incredible messaging. It's entirely possible they are waiting until some time closer to the amnesty end period to push some new anti gun stance. If some basic hunting rifle or shotgun was used they'll push some kind of narrative that all guns dangerous and we need to clamp down on who can own them and we need to change the license system and only first nations and sustenance hunters can have them. Or some other insane take.

They'll never claim victory because they always need gun control as a wedge issue. Especially with "fiscal conservative" Carney.

Or maybe I had one to many beers at the legion and my tin foil hat is too tight

8

u/Fredarius Mar 28 '26

Don’t worry occasionally they mention sniper rifles. Which is basically any rifle with a scope to them.

4

u/Lumindan Mar 28 '26

Most likely the play, they'll go "look, see we're implementing what you asked for you silly conservatives!" and then go about the most draconian version of classification possible in the name of public safety.

Especially if they can hold out for their majority.

9

u/Lumindan Mar 28 '26

I just don't get the hard-on Liberals have for Poly. How did this gun-control group get so much influence and sway in the liberal party ?

Because it gives them a layer of separation. It's easier to say it's not them pushing that, it's those quebec folks when the timing calls for it, when the timing is good, it's look how safe we're making everyone, look how great we are etc.

The Liberals seemed to have manufactured a problem and a solution for no particular reason. If they never went down this route, I feel like no one would have really cared.

Look up the rock quote, it's the most mask off they've been (until gary's audio got leaked).

I don't think there voter base would have given a shit either way. I anecdotally never saw wide spread calls for gun control. I thought it was pretty well known our laws were fine as-is pre-2020.

The average liberal voter doesn't give a fuck about guns. But what they do care about is how bad the conservatives are, the Liberals can leverage the firearms issue into a partisan issue (They've literally run the x wants AR15s on the streets ads before). Look how they eat up anything Carney does, they don't even bother considering the idea "I wonder if giving the government the ability to surveil the general public and not let them know" is a bad idea, they just go "yeah carneys a banker!"

The whole thing just seems so weird that a small minority of people was able to such a huge influence.

it's all about media coverage, there's nothing like hiding a scandal with some virtue signalling and political smoke screening.

u/Lumindan Mar 28 '26

You're half right, it's not really a theory though, why else would they bring in the most well known anti-firearm zealot in Canada. You don't buy a 10/22 and then leave it in the safe forever, they're obviously going to put her to work doing what she does best (lie and spread misinformation while leveraging their interests)

The conflict of interest doesn't matter because a court already ruled that as long as she isn't paid, it isn't a conflict (wild I know.)

Gary probably got promised a sweet gig after to take all this shit and in a little while they can move Nat into this position by saying, "She's been an MP for a while learning from Gary so its all good"

100% she's marinating in her spot so that they can't criticize her once they rotate her in, it's gonna be fluffed to high heaven "look she spent a year in nature, look how much great work she's done, now she's going to apply her lifes work to public safety".

2

u/drugstoremechanic Mar 28 '26

Indeed. The golden parachute.

14

u/kylethesnail Mar 27 '26

“Its instruction I received from carney” literally what he said

12

u/AsparagusUnhappy5395 Mar 27 '26

was also caught on tape saying all the liberal gun grabbing is bullshit and bound to fail 🤣

179

u/Acceptable_Visit_115 Mar 27 '26 edited Mar 27 '26

So now the RCMP union (National Police Federation) is doubting it as well. You can't get more blunt than this. Straight from the horse (police)'s mouth!

And the Liberals are still doubling down on it?

I hope they exercise their union rights and go on strike when November comes.

144

u/rastamasta45 Mar 27 '26

It’s honestly an insane read, with 7 months left in the amnesty, there’s essentially no framework at all for even collecting the guns.

Gary is seriously a tooth paste eating kind of special.

48

u/Ov3rReadKn1ght0wl Mar 27 '26

Tooth paste? More like regular white glue paste.

17

u/JerrySailor24 Mar 27 '26

Leave us white glue eaters out of it!

14

u/Ov3rReadKn1ght0wl Mar 27 '26

Whoa man. I thought we were yellow hobby adhesive adults in this room. Fuck. Sorry.

4

u/JerrySailor24 Mar 27 '26

True say, I guess I need to upgrade. Clearly I'm not an adult.

9

u/rastamasta45 Mar 27 '26

What the fuck is wrong with you people, grow up, seriously. Do meth like an adult, god damn!

4

u/Ov3rReadKn1ght0wl Mar 27 '26

Meth. Peh. We gentlemen huff our poop in a bucket thank you very much.

2

u/infinitemeatpies Mar 27 '26

91 octane is where it's at. Fuck yeah.

4

u/Yamaganto_Iori Mar 27 '26

Nah that stuff is non-toxic, this sort of mentality comes from huffing the industrial strength solvents.

5

u/I-LOVE-HENRY-RIFLES Mar 27 '26

He came to my home and nibbled all the paste on my walls

u/IcySkyDream Mar 28 '26

That’s the US Marines. Gary is a turd eater.

45

u/scottsuplol Mar 27 '26

Don’t worry it’s off duty and retired officers 🤣

55

u/thxxx1337 Mar 27 '26

Unprotected by their insurance and union. I'm sure they'll be clamoring up to volunteer.

18

u/scottsuplol Mar 27 '26

I would be curious to know about off duty if that would be an overtime assignment which would raise the cost of the program even more.

9

u/thxxx1337 Mar 27 '26

Watch them make them contract public servants for safety Canada. 💸💸💸

7

u/-rifle-is-fine- Mar 27 '26

It's ok we can just print more money to pay for that.

Cost is irrelevant when it comes to public safety. 🫡🇨🇦

Yeah some guy just comes up to your door and says he's there to collect the prohibs. Yup I'm just going to hand them over. What's the worst that can happen.

2

u/WestEasterner Mar 27 '26

Police cannot strike

8

u/Acceptable_Visit_115 Mar 27 '26

Can't they refuse additional "off duty work", as Gary puts it?

8

u/WestEasterner Mar 27 '26

100%. You cannot order officers to participate in a paid duty.

And I'm very glad to see after 3 hours of this bullshit, they're finally considering the safety implications to officers.

4

u/Artist_Primary Mar 27 '26

But they can refuse extra duty pay assignments. And in this case they are also asking retired members to do this. Highly doubt they will sign up in any great numbers.

102

u/rastamasta45 Mar 27 '26

It’s very obvious to me that Gary and his infinite wisdom stored in his fat cheeks launched the program to look good in front of carney and probably assessed “I’ll be able to get the framework in place before March because the police will obey us no matter what”

Now that 99% of police refused he’s probably scrambling to cobble together a plan before March 31st. The fact that the head of the RCMP union on Wednesday said there is no plan submitted to him while the collecting is supposed to start April 1st is disturbing on all levels.

No wonder Canada is in shambles, holy moly 🤦🏽

Maybe provost can get more unhinged and declare all the guns get handed in or facing hanging.

61

u/Otherwise_Top_5762 Mar 27 '26

I’m not arguing with you that Gary is incompetent. But he was caught on audio recording a while back to his tenant(? I can’t fully remember) saying he doesn’t believe the program would work at all, would pay him for the difference in price paid vs program reimbursement, and was being forced forward with the program.

He has proven to not know what he’s talking about with even the basics of gun ownership and firearms classifications. It’s weaponized incompetence so he can be fed a script while he takes the blame. Program sucks, is borderline blatant money laundering. Don’t comply

20

u/[deleted] Mar 27 '26

they don’t care about executing this plan cleanly. they hope it fails to a degree. it’s strictly a political wedge used in their favour at the polls. it’s the uneducated voting public who agrees with provost that black gun bad, AR stands for assault rifle, and semi auto has no place in hunting. it’s laughable but it’s close to the real truth. if voters didn’t care they’d drop it in a heartbeat.

16

u/China_bot42069 Mar 27 '26

I would pay to see provost more unhinged. No seriously. The press conference was hilarious. “Please please please le petite please”

I don’t even think Gary is incompetent. He got busted on the recording saying this program is a joke and won’t do anything. But he had to tow the party line because poly.

5

u/i-Hermit Mar 27 '26

The more unhinged she becomes the more of a liability she becomes.

98

u/LongjumpingChipmunk Mar 27 '26

There will be cases of loss of chain of custody. GTA cops sharing information for hits on Peace officers, tow truck mafia involvement etc, access to these guns is a can of worms.

12

u/Hopeful_Relation_441 Mar 27 '26

seeing as each police division is currently under investigation for corruption.. i find this problematic

21

u/_MlCE_ Mar 27 '26

Something something "send bachelors and come heavily armed..."

21

u/HALF-PRICE_ Mar 27 '26

“Are those level IV?”

25

u/ssquiggss Mar 27 '26

As soon as this numpty Gary said he'll have retired and off duty officers doing the collections I just had a laugh. None of this makes any sense.

22

u/Spacemanspiff1998 on Mar 27 '26

There is no universe in which police officers going door to door to confiscate guns ends well.

25

u/rastamasta45 Mar 27 '26

Every officer I spoke to says the same thing, no one wants to do it.

Majority of gun owners are law abiding, but entering a home with guns day in and day out is asking for something to go wrong.

12

u/Late_Winner6859 Mar 27 '26

Nah. Everyone is happy to lose thousands of dollars of their property just because Natalunatic wants it. I don’t see how anything can go wrong here

21

u/redjohn79 Mar 27 '26

Criminals will pose and pretend to be retired police officers to collect our guns. I'm calling it now.

14

u/Metalock Mar 28 '26

To be completely honest, I've had a little bit of skepticism trusting RCMP officers after Portapique (not only because of their abysmal response, but because the gunman was disguised as one as well)

4

u/redjohn79 Mar 28 '26

There was a RCMP data breach back in 2021 containing information of 2 million+ RPAL holders, including addresses. So those criminals already have our information. If the government haven't taken this into account, I wouldn't be suprised.

10

u/MasterScore8739 Mar 27 '26

Man wouldn’t that be a kick to the face of the program.

Suddenly there’s 20-30 guns ‘stolen’ by people pretending to be police officers. Hell even just a single one stolen that way should be enough to completely ruin the idea of door to door pick ups.

19

u/thxxx1337 Mar 27 '26

buyback scheme

Nod of approval

33

u/FunkyFrunkle Mar 27 '26

Pissing into the wind, hoping it doesn’t come back at you, in other words.

Don’t like the comment about a hypothetical scenario of a disgruntled gun owner getting into a gunfight with police. You know Poly is going to take that and run with it.

Everything else is pretty interesting. There’s absolutely no plan in place to facilitate this. Gary is just throwing random shit out there, an *idea*. Nothing has been put in motion for the mobile collection units.

29

u/rastamasta45 Mar 27 '26

They don’t even know what vehicles are being used 🤦🏽

How can you organize and run a program across the second largest landmass on earth and only have 7 months to compete it when you don’t even know where the vehicles are fucking coming from.

This is actually insanity, based on his comments too it seems there isn’t even a framework of a plan. Like they don’t even know how the gun handoff will work, or where or where it’ll be dropped or how. He even said “we need a framework of working hours”. So they don’t even know how long these people will operate for on a day to day basis.

Something horrible is going to happen during this nightmare.

14

u/Acceptable_Visit_115 Mar 27 '26

"mobile collection unit" consists of Gary and Natalie in a box van with a chop saw and blowtorch in the back, driving across the country. Great Canadian road trip time!

14

u/ReturnOk7510 Mar 27 '26

Their hands touch over the chopsaw one moonlit evening, cue the saxophone, Natalie finally gets laid, and we all live happily ever after.

7

u/Natural_Comparison21 Mar 27 '26

I find it funny that they would think of the disgruntled gun owner situation. Like if you are actively complying with the buyback then chances are you ain’t going to do that.

14

u/[deleted] Mar 27 '26

Not even a concept of a plan? Lol

13

u/Feeling-Water-6824 Mar 27 '26

Send Provost out to collect them all. I'm sure there would be a few choice words said.

15

u/rastamasta45 Mar 27 '26

I AM NOT A POP CAN!

3

u/poisonousappetizer Mar 27 '26

Why won't you listen at her! listen at you! listen at me!

Imma make a fun little patch or badge in honor of her with that moto. "Listen at me. I'm the only true and right source of information now, bitch."

13

u/Afrocowboyi Mar 27 '26

Risk assessment seems like something you on day one / first year of the project. lol

9

u/HornyGoatWeedGuzzler Mar 27 '26

Don't be too hard on em, they've only had a mere 6 years to plan.

4

u/rastamasta45 Mar 27 '26

You’d think 🤔

11

u/BaseCommanderMittens Mar 27 '26

This is such a colossally unpopular farce and waste of money. I predict that no police officer is ever going to collect anything after the amnesty date.

Probably pay more than the confiscation scheme.

5

u/PEWPEVVPEVV Mar 27 '26

A rare case of police laziness benefitting the public good.

1

u/nejnedau Mar 30 '26

whose car will they use? and city insuring outside work? If people are only available at night then these 4 hr double and triple OT call ins will add up. working all the overtime means fatigued staff without a rest period.
