Weak excuse. The CCFR could try appealing to moderate non-gun-owners to develop some opposition to LPC policies, but they don't even do that, they just pander to people who already agree with them to get donations.

No political project has ever been successful without making allies out of undecided people.

Only if you believe that the CCFR's messaging is responsible for that backlash, which is laughable
