The only thing we have over Americans, is short barreled shotguns and I gotta say... this looks straight out of a cartoon

Although, even our rules on short shotguns are kinda dumb.

Its great that we can have them from the factory, but how do they become more dangerous if we shorten them ourselves?

I can own a factory 12", perfectly safe, but cutting an 18" to 17"?, straight to jail. At least we can buy shorties i guess.

Looks like a little flag that says “POW!” should shoot out the barrel

I would buy that ammo when someone makes it!

I don’t think you understand the history of the NFA and the nonsensical gun laws behind it. Americans had to pay a $200 tax stamp until January for SBR<14in in barrel length along with registration and other paperwork. On the contrary, if you put a pistol brace on a 14in ar, then it would be classified as a pistol and no registration or tax required even though it’s almost literally the same. But if you put a vertical grip on the pistol braced ar, then that would be a felony. The same logic applied to short barrel shotguns. Comparatively, here, a short barrel shotgun is non restricted with oal >23-26in and has no strings attached.

I don’t think my description does it justice, but there are a few visual infographics that show how silly the laws are

I’d take that anyday over shitty QC rods and Turkish crap as some of the only legal ways to own a gun as a licensed individual in this country.

Also not a win when you consider registering an sbr takes a month usually and you dont need any kind of license in most state. So really no win

Guns in the mail is something nice that we have. Lots of states have pretty restrictive gun laws too.

I know it’s cope but still lol

u/Imaginary-Text4690 Mar 31 '26

Yes that’s an actually positive, like I said you can register an sbs and have it approved in under a month, no license so it really isn’t a win in that field

I have one, they’re hilarious to take out to the range and a lot of fun with mini shells, would not recommend 3’ magnum shells, my shoulder was yellow after lol.

I have one. I love it. Fantastic “emergency” backpack and trail gun. Though it kicks pretty hard if you don’t shoot lighter loads.

Do you ever actually use it for that though? I got the same gun for the same reason, but have never actually taken it out in the bush.

In 2026 Canada it’s one of the only small and light NR guns that are legal. And as they say, better have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

It shoots lighter shells like a charm!

I have and its job was less lethal and bear bangers. It mostly was used as a stick to prop my hammock open under my pillow. I didn't need to use it but we did try out the rounds and they have plenty of velocity for that. clay shooting shows that its got a massive spread through not recommend as a bird gun lol.

u/Crossed_Cross Mar 27 '26

What's the point of it other than being small for the bush?

11

u/ShootyMcGun Mar 27 '26

There is no other point, that’s the point

Fills the spot of a handgun

u/Sco0basTeVen Mar 27 '26

Like I said that’s why I bought it, I actually have the slightly longer version with full sized stock. But it’s still kinda heavy and when I’m hiking around with my hunting rifle, I still just prefer to have my bear spray on me instead of a large pack with the shotgun strapped to it.

What's the shortest Canadian Special shotgun that's actually useable and practical? Is there a midsize option slightly longer than this?

2

u/Mosquitoisland Mar 26 '26

The Recon 3 is on my radar, cool looking shotgun

2

u/Schrodinger_cube Mar 27 '26

XD ya this is definitely a because i can and our laws are a "funny" purchase.

There are 8” options for 870’s if you want real short shottys. I think 14” hits a sweet spot. You could get shockwave style grips for even shorter package but would need a lot of practice to make it usable.

Careful. The fireball could open a rift portal...

1

u/Schrodinger_cube Mar 27 '26

Its it good for shooting clays? like it technically can but boy will you feel it way faster than a full size browning XD.

I still remember one of YT shorts showed this baby in action. The dude hesitated a bit after he loads a shell. Attempt to shoot it with one hand.

When the trigger was pulled, it fly back and almost smack him in the face.

The comments were gold.

Good times.

What are the chances we'll see another run of short barrel SR-410's in the near future?

No barrels, no stock, no sale.

Was going to check out but stopped when I saw TI wants a photo of PAL AND DL... in addition to confirming all my info through the RCMP web portal... Backed out. No chance they are getting DL without me know exactly how it’s gonna be stored and deleted.

Unfortunate because they didn’t want that when I ordered a T81 or a Shield RMS.

3

u/tacticalimports TacticalImports.ca Mar 27 '26

This is a requirement by the government as per Bill C-21 now. Same for mag purchases

2

u/833psz Mar 28 '26

The drivers license? I’ve ordered two firearms in the last month and was not asked for a photo of my drivers license.

Online sales, as per Bill C-71 it is a requirement to verify a second piece of government ID

Purchased 3 units online last year and all that was required was my pal information. No photo copy of Pal or DL, can you share a link to this required information.

It is under Bill C-71, not C-21, our mistake:

Under Section 6 of the amended Conditions of Transferring Firearms and Other Weapons Regulations:

  • Subsection 6(b)(ii): Specifies that (remote or online sales) where a visual comparison is not possible, the seller must compare the information on the buyer's license with another piece of photo identification issued by the federal, a provincial, or a municipal government.
