Borrowing a handgun (Canada)

Hello firearm owners.

My name is Sean and I’m looking to borrow a handgun from anyone that is in the GTA area (greater Toronto area). I have started going to IDPA competitions and would like to participate in them, which requires a handgun. Unfortunately, due to our current standing law, I am no able to buy a handgun myself. If anyone is willing to lend me a firearm, if you could shoot me a Dm, I am willing to pay to borrow it.

I will also be able to verify my current RPAL status to any lender.

What other options do new shooters have?

Gun clubs should find a way to facilitate new IPSC shooters.

One club recently put out a notice for a "New Shooter" introduction course, but it requires a pistol; it's literally a chicken and egg situation.

1) Take up ISSF and get an exception letter.

2) Buy a handgun in 22LR that can be converted to 9mm.

3) Use the handgun to shoot ISSF / IDPA / IPSC

This doesn’t seem to be an option in Nova Scotia, at least not if you don’t have someone to borrow from.

Contact the shooting federation of Canada and ask who runs it in NS. From there ask them. You can start with an airgun.
