News / Politics / Activism Now's the time to donate to the CCFR

Don't forget to donate to the other challenges as well. The CCFR may have spent the most on the court challenges but they've also wasted the most on motions that were doomed to fail from the start (ex. the injunction) or were unnecessary (ex. amnesty extensions... which they are doing again unfortunately).
Arguably, the Group of 8 applicants (Arkadi Bouchelev is the lawyer) have gotten the most bang for buck (of the 4 groups of applicants that are still in the running). I'm disappointed that the NFA-funded group (lead by Solomon Friedman) didn't see it fit to continue / ran out of funding because they also presented very well.

Yeah no. I've said it before and I'll keep saying it. Rod and Tracey can go get a real fucking job. For years I've watched these 2 grift their way as "THEE" Canadian gun rights foundation, while accomplishing absolutely fucking nothing. When the OIC came around, what happened? They rented an RV covered in anti liberal shit and drove it around Canada "To spread awareness" while only stopping at fucking gun stores. I don't know if any of you have ever looked at the cost of renting one of those, let alone wrapping something that size in custom livery, it's not cheap. What came of it? Fuck all.
No advances in gun rights at all. Mag restrictions, suppressors, model bans undone, not one fucking thing. Not to mention the wild shit that comes out of Tracey's mouth that just makes us look stupid.
Fuck the CCFR, they have been handed millions for absolutely fucking nothing. BuT tHeY aRe ApPeAlInG tHe SoC rUlIng! Of course they are, that challenge was the only useful thing they have done and it was a waste of time, especially when others before (John from wolverine) were straight up told no by the courts.
If they had even one success, I'd still donate. But, nothing.

I'm guessing this guy didn't see how angry Provost was today with the gun lobby he says is doing nothing. I would give some credence to some of the criticism but I can't believe my tax dollars are being spent on people like this guy trying to create divide in r/canadaguns. I've been on this sub for over 10 years and to see this type of post have this many upvotes with very little discussion definitely suggests to me something fishy is going on. Believe what you want about the CCFR but claiming the government isn't rattled by the gun lobby after today is being wilfully blind. You don't have to donate to them but we don't need to pretend that they're completely useless. Say hi to Natalie for me.

What would you have done differently?
14
u/milanskiv Mar 23 '26
Maybe not drive around with GuN RiGhTs aRe hUmAn RiGhTs truck from a gun store to gun store and instead use the money members gave me to focus on the cost of the bans to people who don’t care about guns , at places where people who don’t care about guns gather?
5
u/i-Hermit Mar 23 '26
Ah, so it's not an approach problem, it was an execution problem then.
So, how would you spread the message of cost to people who don't care about guns? As a practical matter, please explain your approach.
My point here is that even if you feel this idea was poorly executed, it's not an easy thing to do when as you say, a lot of people don't care about guns.
And that doesn't even touch all the good they do. Getting something to the SCoC is no small thing.
2
u/milanskiv Mar 23 '26
You missed the point. Most people don’t care about guns but they do care about their wallets.
As for the good they did - name one successful outcome ?

u/cumbrad Mar 23 '26
A better question might be, what are you doing? Because despite the losses, they are trying to make a change, and running a large campaign against the gun grab. You’re not. You’re sitting in an armchair typing on reddit like a total keyboard warrior. I get that there are frustrating elements of how they’re operating- it could always be done better, there’s always a way to optimize the operation. But me and you are not doing anything tangible against the gun grab, while they are.

u/milanskiv Mar 23 '26
What I am doing is writing to MPs, taking new people to the range and going door to door for the last 3 election campaigns.
What I am not doing is wasting my time and money on preaching to the people already converted.

Just my two cents. Even with all the losses, most being due to the Canadian demographic being so insanely left and anti-gun, I would applaud Tracey and Rod for doing everything they can to get to this point this far. What exactly more could they do asides from building this court case to the highest court in the country? This is the final push we have before a conservative government, which is unlikely in the foreseeable future.
You seem to believe that Rod and Tracey are holding a magic wand that they refuse to wave to give you some “wins” when rather it’s just the nature of the country you live in my friend, it’s those around that voted NDP/Lib/Bloc with anti gun stances, rather than Rod not magically getting you suppressors lol. Gun lobby has exhausted every option

Yea as much as I love them and support them I feel you. Sure they raise awareness. But when comparing political action groups to the US they are way less politically active. We basically stop at awareness and nothing more. Maybe I misunderstand our system but for example, why doesn’t the CCFR become more political. An idea is donating to more gun friendly liberals during candidate selection for a riding to challenge incumbent liberals and put pressure on them to say no to any gun policies or risk losing their seat.

u/Candid-Tomato2971 Mar 23 '26
Comparing gun rights in the US under 2A and our privilege to own firearms is on complete opposite ends of the spectrum. The NRA has hundreds of millions of dollars to buy politicians and lobby in Washington for something that is constitutionally protected in the first place. Canadians don’t have private property protections, not entrenched into our constitution, which even if we did, could use s.33 of the Charter to over rule any ways. It’s not a Rod/Tracey issue, any gun lobby would’ve been able to accomplish equally as much or less.
1
u/Bobba_cs Mar 23 '26
Not comparing the rights. I’m comparing actions. If I’m understanding correct you are saying that as it’s not constitutionally protected we don’t have leverage to be politically active? Just asking for clarification before I respond

u/Candid-Tomato2971 Mar 24 '26
Comparing actions and results of the largest gun lobby in the world and their ability to buy politicians and stand behind constitutionally protected rights, and comparing that to the resources, laws, and results of the Tracey and Rod is unfair.

u/CanadAR15 Mar 24 '26
An idea is donating to more gun friendly liberals during candidate selection for a riding to challenge incumbent liberals and put pressure on them to say no to any gun policies or risk losing their seat.
CCFR cannot do this.
Only individuals who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents can donate.
Third party advertising remains an option but cannot be coordinated with any campaign.

Bless you. This is how we win.

u/__phil1001__ Mar 23 '26
How they put more gas in their RV to drive around on vacation you mean. They are doing zero right now to help us win anything. If you disagree, tell me what they are doing now? What's the point of visiting a fucking gun show except to get money. They need to spread awareness to the public and not by driving an RV covered in garbage that makes the public laugh at them.
5
u/Enough_Challenge7264 Mar 23 '26
I respect your ability to take and speak an opinion, but understand that turnabout is fair play. What they have done, criticisms aside, is clear. It's public. So, I'll ask you...what have you done to further the cause. Have you protested on the Hill? Are you just back from the demonstration at the Quebec legislature building?
How has the public responded to your attempts to protect gun rights?
-3
u/__phil1001__ Mar 23 '26
I never said I was protecting rights or attempting to, therefore I have no obligation to do anything. I am certainly not getting paid. As mentioned in a previous article, plenty of things the CCFR could have done instead of attending gun fairs in their RV
However you are simply stating whataboutism.
3
u/Enough_Challenge7264 Mar 24 '26
whataboutism...no. I'm trying to establish what a critic is doing, aside from criticizing. And have found "I have no obligation to do anything." So, thanks for your opinion, such as it is.

u/__phil1001__ Mar 24 '26
I said that the CCFR is useless and has done nothing constructive except grift. I have given many examples in an earlier post of things they could have done. They have chosen to buy an RV and visit gun fairs and put posters on Parliament Hill. Both stupid ideas and simply trying to look good while achieving zero. I asked you to provide me of what useful actions the CCFR has done and instead it gets turned into what have I done? I have done nothing because I didn't take money or promise to do anything. The CCFR takes money with a promise to do something useful. So please provide me with something that has been useful, like public ads on TV? Print ads in media? Stats showing violence from legal Canadian gun owners etc..
6
u/__phil1001__ Mar 23 '26
Absolutely fuck the CCFR. So many things they could have done. Challenged the abuse of OIC instead of an actual democratic vote, run ads on TV showing cost of gun grab to tax payers. Run ads showing illegal gun crime vs legal gun crime statistics. Run ads showing gang violence with firearms smuggled in. Disproved the myth of number of guns used in domestic disputes in Canada. Shown what is required to be a licensed gun owner in Canada. Shown how ridiculous and inconsistent some of the firearm bans are. Shown how illogical that an AR style firearm is now prohibited but a 9mm pistol can still be used at the range. Instead we get some rando posters on a display outside parliament hill. I think the CCFR has done an atrocious job seeing how many years and how much money they have had. If you feel I am wrong, please reply with all the excellent things the CCFR has done.

u/22GageEnthusiast Mar 24 '26
The CCFR has done more than you on top of a lot of what you've already mentioned in your nonsensical comment. All you've done is bitch and moan on reddit and social media.
0
u/__phil1001__ Mar 24 '26
My comment is factual, I am complain because they are useless. Of course they have done more than me, I am not taking money and promising actions. I am under no obligation to do anything. I am waiting for you to tell me what they have done besides buy an RV and travel to gun fairs. Gun fairs to get more money and people to sign up for their grift. Stuck a few posters to their RV and on Parliament Hill. Where are tv ad campaigns? Print media campaigns? Change my mind at universities?

u/22GageEnthusiast Mar 24 '26
They literally have a website that lists everything they've done since they got created in 2015 here https://firearmrights.ca/why-join/
If you want to ignore this and say this hasn't been enough then ok cool......go start your own pro-firearm rights organization and start doing what they haven't. Bet you won't and I bet you will just continue to troll the sub like the spineless craven loser that you are.

In the early days, the before times, when the CCFR was first ramping up, they posted many advertisements looking for volunteers. I noticed an overall lack of representation from my area, and felt the need to reach out and see if I could help. I never got a reply to that email. A few months later, the CCFR is set up at a local gun show. They are assaulting the attendants with the ole "Buy a membership, or you'll have no rights, this is your LAST CHANCE."- schtick. A brief conversation with this CCFR rep led me to tell him that I'd rather contribute my time, than a monetary donation. I got an eye roll and that was it. Every year since then I've noticed a shift from the "one of you guys" to an obviously hand picked 11/10 woman, running the booth. The give-a-fuck factor has dropped to an all time low, and there wasn't even a willingness to engage in dialougue. More or less buy a membership or fuck off approach. This, and some ofnthe moves they've made recently, have led me to lose all hope in the organization. Everytime they open their mouths I stop listening.

u/FartKing6T9 Mar 23 '26
I agree. They want this shit to continue and get worse. It keeps these fuckers pockets full. They could give a flying fuck about our firearms. As long as they can keep asking for money and doing absolutely nothing they’re living the dream.
-1
u/grease_gun Mar 24 '26
They have had a lot of message drift and Tracey loves spouting off about all sorts of shit, a good portion of which I roll my eyes at.

Boys listen up.....there's always gonna be a few losers on this subreddit who wanna come here only to bitch and moan about the CCFR and what they should or shouldn't be doing when they themselves couldn't be bothered to put down the beer+Doritos, stop jerking off to hentai and go out and actually work on advancing firearm rights in Canada. Fuck these people. They're just as bad as the current government in power and there's a good chance that they're just plants from the Liberal Party/PolySeSouvient here to stoke division in the community.
For everyone else out there, if you're an actual law abiding Canadian gun owner please join the CCFR at the very least. I just renewed my membership and also donated a bit on top of that. I'm not related to Galon Weston so I can only do so much financially. However, with this upcoming Supreme Court Challenge, the CCFR is going to need all the money that they can get.
