Grab it. They're not getting any cheaper and it makes it harder for the government to ban it.

F***ing wild that SKSs, even Chinese ones are pushing NEARLY $1000... 15 years ago, they were only worth like $100-200...

$35 is the cheapest I’ve heard from my friends at the range

1

u/IronSack46 Mar 23 '26

Yup at my local shop they used to be $35 each or a case of 10 for $300.

I bought my SKS for like 400 rounds of Barnaul .223 worth maybe $150 at the time if memory serves, about 8 years ago.

How will this make it harder for government to ban? It's not like they are going to give anyone market value for anything?

What do you mean “even” the Chinese ones? They are literally better made than the Russian ones

Historically, the Chinese SKS rifles were always priced cheaper than the Russian ones. To me, it doesn't even make a freaking difference, but for some reason, saying one SKS came from the "motherland" gives it a price bump.

Edit to Add: On FOC, a Chinese SKS is $840-880 while a Russian SKS is $995

Sentimental value worth a dime I guess

You’re paying extra for the bodies.

If the barrels didn’t get shot out after 5-10k then maybe for durability As far as price mark up, yea most definitely Old school is almost always cool (trucks and guns) - for sure

I haven’t put that many down range woth it yet, got it ‘brand new’ - cosmoline And it shoots amazing compared to the used up Russian ones my friends have That was a rough estimate considering it’s typically all corrosive ammo

Check your local area first to see if you can meet up with someone and buy in person from another owner. No taxes and the prices are usually cheaper anyway. I'd only buy online if you want an unissued french tickler

It's difficult to justify the current asking price considering what I paid for mine. However at the moment it's one of the better and still one of the cheaper semi auto, center fire rifles available

12

u/Ok-Bowler-203 Mar 22 '26

Do it, I got mine in November and it was under $700

10

u/KalashnikovParty Mar 22 '26

got mine last summer for 500

6

u/HappyCan7250 Mar 22 '26

Yep, I got mine spring of last year for $500.

Cabela's had them on sale this winter very briefly for $530 when everyone else was asking $700+. I almost bought a second one, but they sold out within an hour or two.

1

u/Unfair_Valuable_3816 Mar 22 '26

got mine at same time and place

1

u/Claus-Buchi Mar 22 '26

Same here, also bought one of those crates of ammo

1

u/mischling2543 Mar 22 '26

Yeah I paid $650 at the end of September

1

u/NeitherCake2956 Mar 22 '26

Got mine for $799 not to long ago

u/Ok_Reason5045 Mar 22 '26

2

2

u/mokapotWONTmokapot Mar 22 '26

Not worth in my eyes but I’m blind to the past price of $100😭

2

u/MourningWood1942 Mar 22 '26

I got mine a bit after covid, a used Russian for $550

Last month got an unissued tickler around $800

Prices are only going up

2

u/Mr-Meaner13 Mar 22 '26

You’re getting hosed, still buy it.

2

u/Critical_Rule6663 Mar 22 '26

Damn. Glad I picked up one last year for the laughably “low price” of $650. Thought I was overpaying then.

1

u/AdeptArt Mar 22 '26

Yeah for this price please get a french tickler instead

1

u/adhq Mar 22 '26

Bought my '50 Tula for $300 not that long ago. Seeing the prices of today, I regret that I didn't buy 10 or more of them. I wouldn't be able to convince myself to pay nearly $1000 for one of them now, though I know it's possible that they will never be this cheap again in the future.

1

u/AviatingPawprints Mar 22 '26

Man better get one, I got mine in December 2023 and it was 579 with shipping and handling from tenda Canada. 🍁

1

u/pinuscontortas Mar 22 '26

Used to be able to get a crate of them for that much.

Hell in a handbasket I tell ya.

1

u/Spiritual_Rope_6952 Mar 22 '26

dammnn those prices skyrocketed. bought one online like 2 months ago and it was like 650$ +tx and shipping.

1

u/Priorsteve Mar 22 '26

Look around, I've seen them at 695 in the past month online.

1

u/NeitherCake2956 Mar 22 '26

100% recommend! I got mine not too long ago before the price jumped $50ish. Only thing I don't like is the stock finish has a bit of bubbling. Other than that it's a great rifle.

1

u/WeatherEyeComponents Weather Eye Components Mar 22 '26

The first rifle I bought was one of these back in 2012, Marstar had a deal where if you bought a crate of 7.62x39, they'd throw one in for 200 bucks. I sold it because the rear sling swivel mounted on the side is perfectly placed to smash you in the jaw when you go to shoulder it.

1

u/Accomplished-Beat779 Mar 22 '26

Got my Tula about 10 years ago for $199. I wish I had bought 5

1

u/tetraacetic Mar 22 '26

These are completely unused right? Would it make sense to buy used on gp?

1

u/ultragigasimp Mar 22 '26

Last year I got one with a missing firing pin for 200$. I got super lucky. Buy once cry once, these will continue to go up in value. If they get banned the feds won’t know what to do since there are probably more SKSs in the country than people. Rip the bandaid off while they’re 840$ and not 1200$

1

u/LGzJethro66 Mar 22 '26

How much are Ds going fo,r paid 75 in the early 90's

1

u/nineteen84 Mar 22 '26

Yes do it, sweet gun and fun to take apart and clean. Really, it's a work of art.

1

u/No-Fold904 Mar 22 '26

Check and see if Bass Proshop/Cabela’s has any in stock, I got one $200 cheaper than that about 6 months back.

If not then go for it.

1

u/Motor_Historian2634 Mar 22 '26

You can get the ATI sks for like 100 dollars cheaper on FOC. Up to you though, you could try another site to find the spike bayonet model and that will also be cheaper, the Chinese SKS with blade bayonets like the one in your photo are a little more expensive because they are earlier models that were made under the supervision of the Russians, made on Russian machinery when they were first teaching the Chinese how to produce these rifles.

1

u/Business_Working_703 Mar 22 '26

Just bought that exact one 2 months ago and i love it, def go for it

1

u/Spyrothedragon9972 Mar 23 '26

These rifles still aren't worth more than $250.

1

u/AlonzoMosely88 Apr 10 '26

As an owner, they are nice rifles. But I don't feel they are worth anywhere near this much. For that kind of money, I would rather hold out for a nice Tikka varminter, Mossberg 590, or something else.

Well it's the only 5 round semi automatic 7.62 you can get. I got the same version as you last year, it's loaded up with smelly preservative I forget what they called it, so you will want to disassemble it and wipe it down with mineral oil
