Gun and gear reviews Would you accept this?

Received this box after a long wait. Imported from the states. Barrel is far from ‘free floating’ in fact it’s almost ‘bedded’ on the right side of the barrel. I’ve heard story’s of the Gen 2 American’s not being seated well, but IMO this is unusable.

With this being imported, there is an almost zero chance of it being replaced ……

Sorry that blows dude, no I wouldn't accept that. Get a refund and buy something European, these RARs are overhyped just because they take AR mags and have a short barrel. The action is gross and the trigger is too.

Any suggestions? I have so many ar mags just collecting dust (as I imagine a lot of us do) As well, there are few bolt action .223 rem with a twist rate as fast as these. 1-8. Id prefer to be able to shoot heavier projectiles (and so would my reloading supplies) This is one of the few rifles with a twist rate that could handle 69-75gr bullets.

If length isn't a concern, CZ 600 Alpha is a very nice rifle. If you want shorter, go for a CVA Cascade SB. Both have smooth actions and fantastic triggers.

. Neither takes AR mags but do you really need a PMAG in a bolt action? They make 10 round mags for both. I've handled both, as well as the RAR1 and RAR2 and the CVA is my favourite, with the CZ being a close second only because it's longer barrel in 223.

. All these handle 5.56 just fine as well, they're made to spec to higher the slightly higher pressure, despite what some misinformed wussies say online. The trigger and mags were just a bit nicer on the CZ, but the CVA's are great too.

. I got both for cheaper than the RAR2, you just need to shop around.

Problem with CZ 600 alpha The twist rate on them is 1-7” That would restrict me to soley heavy projectiles. While I have numerous in the reloading pile, it pales in comparison to the factory ammo have collecting dust that weighs 55gr, some 62 And I’d hate for those to go unused

The CVA is 1:9 but tbh I wouldn't get too caught up on the grain vs twist rate unless you're shooting like over 400m. Lots of reviews on lighter ammo being shot accurately from these rifles. You could buy 2 brand new CZs and they won't necessarily shoot the same ammo with the same results.

A higher twist rate should not limit you to heavy bullets, with a 1-7 you should be able to go all the way down to the 30gr bullets, up to 80gr no problem. I would also highly recommend the cz600 alphas, I have 2 of them, and they shoot great, and the action is great as well. The only thing that is bad about them is that the stock is as flimsy as a wet noodle, but you can stiffen that up by putting some epoxy in the forend.
