Misc Firearms and house insurance

Anything special to consider? Do you have some/all of your firearms included as scheduled items?

Rule of thumb, the fewer people that know you have firearms, the better

That's fine in some cases, but doesn't really work if you're actually hoping to get paid out by insurance. If it's a requirement from them, either declare them or don't. Just don't expect coverage if you don't.

Depending on your province, it's illegal for them to deny your claim for something completely unrelated to your nondisclosure.

They might not deny the claim, but they may not cover the full amount of non disclosed items over a certain value.

The other common one I've seen is just a flat max amount for certain categories of things

Except for the fact that this sort of attitude is killing gun culture in Canada. We need new people to join the group and you don't get that by hiding from them.

I have gotten a handful of family into this hobby by telling them about my guns. We need to end gate keeping and be more open. Only we can save the future of this hobby.
