Misc Opinions on burlington rifle and revolver club?
Hi everyone!
Now that I have my PAL, I was looking for a range to join. I stumbled across this club, and they seem to have pretty good services offered, as well as a fair price.
I've heard alot of mixed opinions about them, some say they're excellent and not really busy. Whereas some say they're always busy with the disciplines etc.
Does anyone have any experience with this range, and do you think it's worth it to apply there?
One of the big reasons I like this place, is because they offer the ability to bring guests, and they don't limit how many times you can bring that specific guest (to my knowledge). For example, I seen Gagnon had a limit until the guest would be required to purchase a membership.
This is pretty important to me, since I have a friend near there, that doesn't have a PAL, but loves to shoot guns, and we'd love to have some really good memories over there.

I just did their safety course and became a member a few weeks ago and it's pretty decent so far. It is 24 hours but most of the normal human hours are eaten up by disciplines so you have to check the schedule often

Makes sense. It sounds like a decent club, but I might keep it on the backburner for now, and see if there are any other clubs that could maybe compare to it

The one thing to keep in mind is they are expanding and building a new facility on top of the existing underground range. So they'll have more ports and likely more room for people to shoot while disciplines are going on.
It's also a club I'm confidant won't be going anywhere anytime soon barring Liberal policy changes.

About the guest thing I was talking about. Let's say I wanted to bring 2 people, someone commented that 1 would have to wait in the lobby. And then once they want to shoot, they switch. Do you know if that's true? It would be pretty cool if both people could be there, but I also don't know the size of the booths

You can't have both guests on the range at the same time. If you bring two, one has to sit in the lobby while you shoot with the other and then you can switch them out.

Makes sense. Do you know if the people in the lobby are able to observe and learn the other shooters in the range through a window or something? I'm probably going to apply to the club no matter what, but was still curious

They used to have windows you could observe with but they're gone. You could watch the monitors with the security cameras overlooking the range though

Was a point where I saw people have a couple guests in the range at a time but not anytime recently. The policy is one member with one guest on the firing line at a time. And a guest cannot be left unattended on the range so therefore needs to be in the lobby waiting their turn.

They're not doing that expansion anymore btw. One of the higher ups told me last year after the Liberals won the election. Election results cancelled that plan or have put it on a long hiatus.
The club will still be around as long as enough younger members are replacing the aging boomers though or unless the city of Burlington decides otherwise.

When I did my membership course a couple of weeks ago they were saying it’s before the town of Burlington for approval with an ETA of 2027

As others have said BRRC is a great club! It does tend to be busy on weekends, but you can go anytime since it’s 24/7. The disciplines/leagues are run well too and there’s lots of them.
As for guests, you can only bring a max of 4 at a time, with only 1 being on the firing line at a time. And each guest must pay $20.
I believe it’s also currently like a 3 month wait to join, since the safety courses fill fast.

it depends on if you like solo shooting or shooting disciplines. if you just want to blast some steam off you have to wait till the daily event to be over before you can shoot. bonus is they open past midnight and i can usually do my experiments on my tm22 without much if any people around

Im a member of that club thoigh I very rarely have time to go. I think its a great indoor range. Yes there are club events almost every day but it is a 24h club you can access at any time. No limits on how many times a guest can come but there is a fee for them and a waiver to sign each time.

Sounds good. This club seems to be my number one choice so far. I'll keep on looking for now, but it looks great

Colby shooting club, Galt sportmens club, Wentworth shooting sports, range 519. Others further outside of that area. Wentworth taking new members right now and range 519 always takes new members I believe.

Just to follow up. I most enjoy shooting pistols at this range but its decent for sighting in a rifle (to 50yds). There is also an outdoor archery range. Its also very affordable in comparison to some other ranges.

I've been a member for almost three years and it's a great club. Probably the best indoor range in the GTA imo for the price you're paying. I've never had any issues except sometimes during free shooting hours a few of the old boomers give me shit for shooting at 20y when it's supposed to be 25y lol smh.
You can shoot pretty much anything there except for tracer, incendiary and steel core ammo. Steel case with lead core ammo is fine too. For shotguns though it's slug only. You can pattern a few shotgun shot rounds at the end of any discipline if you ask the guy running the discipline and he'll shut down the firing line for a bit.
There's still quite a bit of free range time to use when the disciplines aren't running. Just check the schedule on their website and you'll know when.

Burlington has operated disciplines like this for a long time. It’s nothing new and I’d like to see any other club that offers such a diverse amount of shooting sports. If you want to plink every week it might not be the best club for you and there are many other clubs around that can accommodate that. Members aren’t a nuisance and lot of them shoot the disciplines spoken of. Also if the member shooting times don’t work for you just don’t join, they don’t keep them a secret.

As a member, it’s a good local club. As stated they have disciplines every night except Saturday. And on Saturday and Sunday morning they are usually occupied with either juniors or small bore league. But usually done by 12-1pm. When the weather is very cold it can be chilly on the range even with the heaters running. Sometimes a target runner in a booth can be broken but not the biggest deal. And sometimes can be busy during peak hours. Guest wise you can only have one on the range at a time so others have to wait in the lobby. It’s also a $20 guest fee per guest whenever you bring them. It’s a good club for general shooting but doesn’t offer abilities for trap/skeet, long range rifle range cause obviously it’s only a 50 yard indoor range. But ya if you need a club to just do some basic shooting it’s solid.
