The fact that homeowner was not automatically charged.

There are a number of takeaways from this article one could make. But anybody familiar with gun storage laws in Canada would not be wondering "how did the homeowner have time to take the gun from the safe and remove the trigger lock"

Ok John McPhee...there are a hundred other comments in the thread about how the homeowner was not charged. Go clap some gums on those.

That reference is lost on me. But just in case I failed to carry my point across, legally you are not required to trigger lock guns that are in a safe.
