I mean… the way it should be is not making a safe country unsafe in the first place. But yeah good to hear a law abiding citizen didn’t get charged similar to any other nonsense in this country….

Well that would be ideal but there are bad apples everywhere unfortunately.

It’s refreshing to see someone defending their home and their family without having to worry about getting financially crippled by our court system.

Property crime is.

Violet crime is not. It is nearly double the 1970s rate up to the most recent year I can see. And it’s been getting uncomfortably close to the early 90s peak.

What stats are you viewing? I see the high for violent crime was 3.02 per 100k in 1975, peak low was 2018 (1.79 per 100k), and currently it's a touch higher than 2018 at 1.91 per 100k. Looks like it went up from 2018 to 2024 but declined again since. Fairly negligible stats in the first place, and the difference between them even at peaks is fairly negligible.

50 years ago was 1976, rate was 584 per 100K

Most recent year here is 2023 at 967 per 100K

Peak in 1992 was 1084 per 100K

I’m gathering so far that part of what helped this guy is he had good clear video of the invasion and he likely did everything “right”

Makes me feel more justified in the 12 camera 4K wired security camera system I put in my place. If anyone ever tries this, their “find out” is going to be captured in 4K clarity including the fact that I hopefully had time to verbally warn them to leave.
