Application / Regulation advice New PAL holder

Hey y’all!

Glad to finally call myself a PAL holder. For my fellow Quebecers, here are my dates:

Applied for PAL/RPAL on February 2 (both my references answered the questions the same day). My girlfriend completed her part on Friday the 6th of that week but missed the CFO call a few weeks later. She called back the next day.

I was approved on March 3 (29 days after applying) and received my card in the mail today — 13 days after the approval notification.

Looking forward to going target shooting/plinking soon, so I’ll probably have a bunch of questions here since I’m really green.

Good luck to everyone waiting on their application, and be patient!

  1. Ruger 10/22 + tactical chassis (not sure if I go with a jäger, a SBI or ATI) with flip to side optic.

  2. Winchester XPR .308 WIN w/ vortex combo (found a great deal and seems to be versatile enough for long range shooting and hunting).

  3. Russian SKS (hope to find one with birch stock and matching SN at a fair price).

  4. A lever action (when I’ll have a bigger budget since they seem to be pricey).

  5. A BAR MK4 (also need more money for this queen lol)

Pretty cool list!

I have a 308 bolt action and vortex combo and you are right, super versatile and fun, while still having some cheap norinco ammo to shoot.

If you want a cheaper Bar, they sell the 3006 versions from Intersurplus for like 800-900 dollars.  They are the classic magazine though that's on a hinge, not sure if you can change it to removable magazines, but the price is nice!

A lever action is a ton of fun. I got mine not too long ago, a Citadel  Levtac in 357 because they go on sale for 800 and that's the cheapest I see centerfire lever Actions going for. It's great foe a budget option, but if you want more quality,  like a Rossi r95, or Smith and Wesson 1895, or marlin 1894, they will definitely cost a fair bit more.

Thanks for your feedbacks! I will definitely check these options as well.
