Just a question, do we usually get any updates over the portal or on the email when RCMP ship license?

You don’t get notified when it ships but they tell you their current lead times on the website when you apply or renew. It’ll come when it comes, in the meantime busy your with the other hobbies and pursuits that make your life and your character interesting.

I definitely didn’t get anything. I noticed that my status had changed in the portal, and to expect it within two weeks. Called after two, got told that the printer was behind and to call back in a month if nothing had shown up. Got it in the mail two weeks later

No I mean there is a header on the webpage for the applicant portal that gives estimated wait times. but anyway, you got it!

Gotcha. I admit to being stressed out about the reports of year long waits

Why would it be stressful. The expiry clock doesn’t start until after issue

Initial pal for me. Couple reasons, my dad is coming out for a visit in the spring, and bringing some of his old rifles. I know he could probably store them here as it’s actually his gun safe at my place, but I’d rather not deal with the legality , it’s just a lot easier if I have my pal. Second reason, I’m not very good at delayed gratification, and there was a rifle I’d been eyeing up. Not particularly good reasons, but there you go. I’m not saying that I rushed out and spent money hand over fist the day after I got it, but that’s exactly what I did. 😬. Please don’t tell my wife.

The alternative is he keeps them in his vehicle. Probably safer legal wise. As for your second reason, any emotionally honest reason that shows self awareness is better than any hidden or good reason.
