Gun and gear reviews Any tips on making this less sh*t
Got this gun the other day for cheap. I found out why. The most awkward to hold while extended for my arm length and I find it constantly jams (running Norma Tac 22lr.) I'll try better round with HV but I shot what I had. What are your thoughts on this gun?

That's the first rifle i ever bought! 40 some years ago! shot a pile of ground hogs and pigeons with it! It's definitely a jamomatic, I bought another mag for it, just a regular SB mag with out the fake shroud around it and it shot much better but only load 6-7 rounds in it and it shoots fine. It definitely does not like yellow jackets! I use cheep ammo for pigeons in the barn and Stingers for groundhogs.

I’ve got this same model. It’s hilarious and fun on its own. Super awkward stock and garbage carry handle “sights” leave it as is bro

I have this one and the solid stock version. Both from new in the 80's. I have never had a problem with them. They are fantastic rifles. Maybe it needs a cleaning and lubing.

If you use Remington or a hotter. 22lr it will cycle ok. Stay away from Federal. CCI might be a good bet.

Dam..I got one of those at Can tire in the 80s. I fired 1000s of rounds through it till the sear wore and it started going full auto. ( fires from an open bolt IIRC)

Depending on how the length of pull isn't working for you, you may be able to help it depending on if it's too long or too short, too short would just require rigging up some kind of pad idea which with the buttplate being that small might be a bit of a pain but is probably doable, amazing what a few inches can do.
As for function, mine was without a doubt the most reliable semi auto .22 I ever had which amazes me to this day, but the higher velocity the .22 the better theoretically, mine even had that stamped into the side of the receiver. They are a fairly dirty running gun and have a tendancy to trap a lot of .22 powder in their receiver but, are fairly easy to take apart and service, there are videos out there.
The basic idea is unscrewing the stock, lifting the reciever out and unscrewing the back of the receiver tube which is a huge round, popping out the charging handle when it hits the little rear round hole at the back of the receiver that you can use to lock the bolt when together, and pulling the bolt and springs out the back. Be rather careful with the recoil springs, they are small, and you can check them for damage from the previous owner if that's causing issues.
I suspect what may have contributed partly to my rifle's reliability was the mag spring was very stiff and strong, and continued to be so, it never hung up feeding as long as the rifle was working. That may be one other place to check, if the magazine is finnicky there were once sources for them in Canada, not sure if they've since totally dried up, but check for M1600 magazines.

Try running cci stingers and see if it cycles better. But yes also clean and lube

Mount a real M16A2 rear sight. They aren’t expensive and mount to the dovetail grooves if you use the cheap slip in dovetail adapters off amazon. If you have reliability issues take the gun apart and give it a deep clean behind the bolt. Often a lot of gunk built up back there. If that doesn’t work tweaking the feed lips on the magazine, tension and angle by bending and filing usually does the trick.
