Gun and gear reviews Tm 22 pro 18” barrel vs 16”
Wondering which one to go with I like the look of the longer hand guard just wondering on the weight they are both listed same at 6lb also might wanna set up a light on the hand guard thinking the 16” version wouldn’t be enough room to mount light and pressure pad

I personally think the longer hand guard looks silly, that’s why I ordered the 16” one. I like it a lot

Honestly, both options would be fairly decent.
The only negative I can see with putting a light on the shorter hand guard would be casting a shadow off the barrel with how far back the light would sit.
Realistically if you went with a 12 o’clock mount it’d through the shadow down instead of to the sides. Still annoying, but totally manageable. If you could find one, a 45° light mount would probably be best.

I have the 16" and have owned the 18", I significantly prefer the 16"

I went with the 16 the only thing I could compare rail size to was my ruger pc chassis and that has about a 14 inch hand guard where the 18” tm 22 has a 16.5 inch hadgaurd which is a bit much 11.5inch hand guard should be just right

That’s great to hear. I got the 16” because I saw 1 other person say they preferred the 16” as well.

what are the pros/cons of the 16 vs 18? considering the tm22 for my first firearm

I have a pro model, no flashlight or pressure pad, but I think you could make it work for sure.

18” hand guard starts to look goofy long. Go with the 16” that’s more than enough for a light
The 12” version later this year is rumoured to be the plastic feather model

Interested in a 12” when do ya think they will show up in stores. Shoot IPSC and miss my tuned up FX9 .

I'm picking up a 12" when they come out. Going to see if I can swap the barrel with my TM-22 pro to have an aluminum 12" build, and then I'll basically have a regular feather as a beater gun.

you're in luck, it comes aluminum. lol. I swapped the 12" barrel over to my RIA feather to make a stupid light gun. 3.5lbs with a tommy 10" handguard and light stock.

Nah I just dont have a bad one, they are forsure hit and miss but like there really isnt much to fail once you fix the rubber pad... sorry this fact is upsetting to you. Im a bi-weekly shooter for pistol and its part of my rotation.
I shoot about 250 rounds per session with both.

I dunno. Obviously my custom 10/22s are better, but my tm22 runs pretty damn good with no issues.
