Feets / Collection / My build 3 years of gun ownership: a reminder of what civilians could have had
Today marks my 3rd anniversary of becoming a gun owner, so I wanted to share the collection I have built so far. I applied for my RPAL the moment I turned 18, but I never had the chance to own AR15s after the 2020 ban or pistols after the 2022 freeze. Since then, I have tried to get the guns I wanted while financially supporting myself through university by working summers and weekends. I know some people will have opinions on the choices I made when I was younger, but these were deliberate decisions and I do not regret them.
I am posting this from a feeder account and have taken the privacy precautions I am comfortable with, so no need to worry about that.
A lot of these rifles represent a version of Canadian gun ownership that newer shooters may never get to experience. Many of them are now caught by the ban and only remain in private hands because of the amnesty. Looking at this collection honestly makes me think about how much has already been taken away from ordinary, licensed, law abiding civilians.
I also noticed that after the bans, most people stopped posting their prohibs, which honestly sucks. I get why, but I think that silence has done a lot to kill morale. I am leaving this post up because I want it to do the opposite. I want it to remind people that this part of Canadian gun culture did exist, and that there are still people here who care enough to stand behind it.
This post is not just about showing off steel and wood. It is also a reminder. If we want to preserve this hobby, we need to stay politically engaged. Vote. Write to your MP. Talk to people outside the gun community. Bring new shooters into the sport and show them what responsible firearms ownership actually looks like in Canada.
The more normal, visible, and welcoming this community is, the harder it becomes to erase us. A healthy firearms culture does not survive by accident. It survives when people care enough to defend it.
Anyway, thanks for looking. I am proud of how far the collection has come in just 3 years, even if it is bittersweet knowing that a lot of this is now part of a shrinking window of what Canadian civilians were once allowed to own.

Gave us weed but took away guns. Real liberals give us both. Screw the LPC

You know the LPC is acting very illiberal, counter to liberalism, with their bans right?

I mean if you associate "left leaning" with far left illiberalism, then yes, but my statement wasn't false.
Categorically, the LPC gun bans are illiberal. Learn your terms.
-6
u/Ausco_1995 Mar 14 '26
I think you are the one that needs to learn something. Technically Canada is far left liberalism, and they made that very clear to the rest of the world. There is a big difference between left leaning and what Canada has been doing. Look at liberalism from the 1990s and earlier, it's not even recognizable anymore. They act more like communists. And yes liberalism leads to socialism and eventually leads to communism. It's the playbook of Communists.

Technically Canada is far left liberalism, and they made that very clear to the rest of the world.
Technically? They? No sources or any evidence? Jesus you people need help.
There is a big difference between left leaning and what Canada has been doing.
That we can agree on, the details and nuances probably not so much.
Look at liberalism from the 1990s and earlier, it's not even recognizable anymore.
Agreed
They act more like communists.
Nope, I'd probably go more with authoritarian, ideologues, oligarchs...commonly associated with "communism/communists" but I think are more accurate terms.
And yes liberalism leads to socialism and eventually leads to communism. It's the playbook of Communists.
I'll just back out now...

u/DryConfidence77 Mar 14 '26
Why does being far left makes you pro gun again then? Stop being divisive
-7
u/Ausco_1995 Mar 14 '26
Because their only pro gun if it means killing conservatives. Liberals have completely lost their minds.

No they know exactly what they are doing. Liberals hate the truth and can't handle when people are independent from the government. They aren't as stupid as they seem, it's an act. They're just evil and want to destroy everything that doesn't align with their beliefs. If anyone reads this and down votes it, you are the problem and maybe you should get your own life in order before telling other people how to live their lives.

Liberalism is and will destroy western civilization. It’s a mental illness.
7
u/Ausco_1995 Mar 14 '26
As long as true freedom loving people are still here liberals will never destroy us.
8
u/weneedafuture Mar 14 '26
Liberalism is a political and moral philosophy centered on individual liberty, consent of the governed, equality before the law, and the protection of rights.
This what you mean to be a "mental illness"?
5
u/Ausco_1995 Mar 14 '26
No. Liberalism is a term hijacked by communist ideology. It's not the same thing as traditional liberalism. What you see from the left now is not the same and only seeks to destroy freedom. If you disagree you are part of the problem. Look around and stop lying to yourself.
2
u/weneedafuture Mar 14 '26
No. Liberalism is a term hijacked by communist ideology.
So you're a subscriber to "communist ideology"? Otherwise, your use of "hijacked" is apt.
It's not the same thing as traditional liberalism.
You're almost there.
the left
Ah, yes, "THE LEFT". You must be from the other team, "THE RIGHT".
If you disagree you are part of the problem.
If you're not with us, you're against us! Team left vs team right! The right is right!
Look around and stop lying to yourself.
Look around, and get off Twitter/X/Truth Social etc.

This need for such a simplistic worldview is troubling.
Keep voting yourself into slavery I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
I didn't vote LPC...
Are you even a real person?
0
u/ActCompetitive1171 Mar 14 '26
I mean you're arguing over semantic definitions due to what "liberalism" is as a term has become more commonly associated with the liberal party vs the classical definition. It's like people saying "well achchully that's not real socialims" when talking about the soviet union. You know what they're referring to.
individual liberty, consent of the governed, equality before the law, and the protection of rights.
How much of this do you feel aligns with the current liberal party?
1
u/weneedafuture Mar 14 '26
I mean you're arguing over semantic definitions due to what "liberalism" is as a term has become more commonly associated with the liberal party vs the classical definition.
Yes? Thanks for recapping my point. That "commonly associated" is doing a lot of heavy lifting, and that lifting seems to be done by many members of this subreddit. If you choose to "associate" or align the LPC and other parties with a disfigured definition of liberalism, that's on you.
You know what they're referring to.
Oh I do, it's the illiberal/woke left and illiberal/woke right jerking it in their various safe spaces online.

I bet your cat sat on some of these guns during your photoshoot. They always try to photo bomb everything.
21
u/Next-Swimming-4270 Mar 14 '26
Yeah, I had to physically remove my two cats from the room just to take this photo. My cat must have a degree in understanding humans, but seems to use that knowledge only to be as annoying as possible.
5
u/GinnAdvent Mar 14 '26
I find posts with cat on the background very endearing in some of the older post.
Of course as long they don't sat on them, lol
7
u/Metalock Mar 14 '26
My cat always cries bloody murder when I have to remove her from the room when I'm dealing with firearms. Breaks my heart every time 💔

0
u/Sweetchildofmine88 Mar 16 '26
It's really not that bad. A lot of it is just political messaging. We're still allowed to own Browning BAR's, AKDAS Alcor's and a few other SA's. The intention is to stop making guns look attractive to immature Cosplayers. That being said, it sucks that I have to get rid of my BREN(s),

These type 81 kick ass. I wish I grabbed one when I could have...
There are many nice rifles in this collection. It saddens me to see this and the amplitude of the thievery of this government.
8
u/GinnAdvent Mar 14 '26
And this is why the buy back will fail. There are at least 2 million "prohibited gun out there".
This is just one collection from one person. The Liberal have absolutely no idea how many guns they prohibited by having triple OIC that effectively ban all if not most of semi auto.
This single collection alone is well within the number they get from Cape Breton.
And this is from 2020 to 2024, imagine what pre 2019 collection will be like.
This remind me a lot of my own collection, but just take this number and x 2, lol
8
7
u/Response-Cheap Mar 14 '26
Thanks for the attempt at lifting spirits. But my license didn't come in til a month after the 2025 ban. So really all the prohibs here are just things I had to scratch off my shopping list. Type 81SR was at the top of my list. A beautiful picture of one leaning against a tree is still the wallpaper on my tablet. But I'll never own one. Thanks LPC!
6
u/Dill_Pickle_Tears Mar 14 '26
May be cope, but I have a strong feeling we’re on a path back to greatness as firearms owners. It may take a while, but I think we’re going to get everything back.

Agree, share the same feeling and it will also be regardless of which party is in charge, to peoples surprise.

u/KorporalKarnage Mar 14 '26
For a student budget that is a very impressive collection for only 3 years. You have better fiscal control than I had at your age. Bravo.
43
21
u/LongRoadNorth Mar 14 '26
More like no fiscal control. And I'd assume a lot of credit card debt along with student debt.
Over 3 years there's close to probably 70k here between the guns and accessories on them. That's a lot of money for a student. Not to mention a few of these have been banned for over a year now so that's all bought in 2 years.
3
u/Next-Swimming-4270 Mar 14 '26
I work geotech/ surveying in the summer. Makes bank but have to stay in the middle of no where. (Pays well and I can learn a lot). Thats how I have no credit card debt and minimal student debt
2
u/GinnAdvent Mar 14 '26
It's call fiscal control on everything and blow it on guns.
My collection is about 150k that include both firearms and accessories, plus ammo. Over the course of 3 yrs.
It's very impressive as a student if you can do that. I have grad like 15 yrs ago, so at least a decade to save up that 150k.
3
u/LongRoadNorth Mar 14 '26
If you have the extra expendable income sure. Not a smart decision though if you don't already own a home or whatever. But meh people are free to do what they want with their money.
Just saying as someone who's been there that dumped a lot of money on hobbies when I was younger, it's fun but not the smartest economic decision at times when that money could be invested to make a better future.
And absolutely sucks with firearms in Canada with how we may end up losing them with no compensation.
3
u/GinnAdvent Mar 14 '26 edited Mar 14 '26
Well, I do own a place as well, that's like mortgage payment plus saving money away for a hobby, lol. I spend very little on everything else because that's just my thing before I get into firearms
Though I was lucky enough to get a place in early 2010, so it's a modest apartment and not a house, with affordable mortgage payment.
A place of your own always trump over firearms, but I am in my mid 40s now with a bit of headstart compare to people on this sub in their early 20s to early 30s.
At the end of the day, everyone is responsible for their own decisions. Granted, 90k of my collection is currently in lock down mode, but it is what it is and that's my own decision. I am hoping to enjoying it again someday.
3
u/LongRoadNorth Mar 14 '26
Ya I'm same boat as you and older. Me spending 20k on a gun is not the same for someone in their 20s

The LPC didn’t take just take away guns, they’ve literally taken away everything we hold dear in Canada. Home ownership, starting a family, hunting, affordable groceries. Hell apparently trading family values are now viewed as extremism in Canada, in just 11 years LPC made Canada a shining example of a great country to an absolute shithole.
I’ve never met so many professionals who’ve told me they want to leave this country.
6
u/GinnAdvent Mar 14 '26
Yeah, I saw Runkles video about that police saying traditional value is considered on the path of extremism.
Wait, so having common sense means we are extremists. Being a Conservative being a extremist? 8.5 mil people voted in Canada are all potentially extremists?
All 2.4 mil PAL holders in Canada are all potentially extremists?
The Liberals are the one that their policies starting with Justin Trudeau that cause Canada to decline and their over reliance on US have cause us so much grief with whole issue with orange Mussolini.
Give me a break. Lol
2
u/gamercast1337 Mar 14 '26
Okay but how about another 4 more years of liberal control of the government? Surely that will fix everything
1
u/GinnAdvent Mar 14 '26
Because some care more about their pride than their pocket book.
Of course if you are very well off and have lots of assets like in GTA area, then it doesn't really concern you. But for the rest of us working class seeing your purchasing power get less and less is a tough pill to swallow.
Canada is basically becoming a tier based society now.
1
u/gamercast1337 Mar 14 '26
Okay but if we vote Carney in for a bit more time in 2029 he will DEFINITELY fix everything!!! So what that there will be a tier based society, those lower tiers dont understand!
Just give Carney some more time.... he said we should judge him based on his first year and grocery prices and me as a rich Toronto person with enough money to be sheltered from the economic struggles have no issues so hes doing a good job .
Sarcasm if you couldnt tell from how thick I laid it on there at the end.
2
u/GinnAdvent Mar 14 '26
Well, that why some people in this sub said maybe when Canada implode on itself in the next three years, those that vote Liberals in the first place will reflect.
Which I highly doubt people will reflect. Deflect more like, lol.
1
u/gamercast1337 Mar 14 '26
Hmmm how likely do you think the implosion is going to happen in the next 3? Im 50/50 (heh it either happens or it doesnt). We definitely are governed horribly, almost intentionally bad, and 3 years from now would put us just before 2030..... surely all a coincidence.
1
u/GinnAdvent Mar 16 '26
That really depends on how bad it is for average Canadians out there. The current gas situation is kind of out of anyone's control, unless government steps in to cut more tax out of it. Even that won't help if situation in Straitz got worse.
Same with the groceries, and that's also tied to the fuel in some ways.
If there are more talks of separatism from Quebec and Alberta, as in too much favoritism on one side. Then I can also see it happening as well.
Next 3 yrs is gonna be tough for everyone, and if your policy is about fluff and no substances, I am sure people will turn pretty quick.
The honey moon phase for Carney is suppose to be over, but I guess the Davos speech and him traveling all over the places help restore some public confidence, but that's going to change quick if people can't afford to pay mortgage and rent, also losing jobs.
4
u/Due-Candidate4384 Mar 14 '26
I can live without all of it but the fact that the SL8 is banned and I failed to get one even though I could have will haunt me five-ever, not even just forever. Okay well maybe I wanted a Type 81 underfolder too. That one also pisses me off. I doubt those two rifles will come back even if bans were reversed. HK will have little reason to keep making the SL8 in the future if they’re making a genuine civilian G36 and I doubt Norinco will ever bother making T81s again for us if they’re being phased out as a service rifle. I fucked myself.

I can nolonger see a likely scenario where new shooters will ever be able to buy pre 2024 semi autos again, or handguns. legally lol seems like becoming a tow truck driver in Toronto has its perks.
But grandfathering potentially with use is possible IMO. Carney will soon have a fragile Majority (un Democratically, tisk tisk) and i predict there will start to be major fighting within the party once he has to start making fiscally and environmentally challenging decisions that will piss off many Liberals. Thats maybe when the back benchers and floor crossers start to push for or against certain things. Maybe Trudeaus buyback will get tossed and grandfathering will be considered as a middle of the road close to the issue for Carney.
If by the time Trump is out of office, the Conservatives have ditched PP and patched their image, and the NDP have picked up some frustrated Liberal support and pre MAGA Maple Doomsday NDP voters. I think Carney will have a hard time winning the next election.
5
u/GinnAdvent Mar 14 '26
I think this will be a very tough boat to stay on for Carney, just the magnitude of keeping everyone happy. The stance on Iran itself did cause some MPs to rock the boat a bit.
Not to mention that most of the police agencies are refusing to participate in buy back, and the cost of living just continue to go up for the average Canadians out there. You can't continue to keep on living with elbow up alone.
Look at how much it cost them to buy the NDP MP. If other MP sees that, they be like, hey I want to that too. Is Carney going to pay several billions to keep them happy?
As much as I want Canada to improve its military. I am not sure $35 billion is a feasible number at this climate.
3
u/gamercast1337 Mar 14 '26
More importantly what canadian WANTS to serve this government in the military? The liberals may support the government but they are very unlikely to join the military, while the crowd whos more likely to join the military being more traditional "conservative " crowd has been attacked relentlessly from this government, had so many rights taken away from them, being actually patriotic is frowned upon , etc etc etc. They wouldnt join the military to prop up this government.
2
u/GinnAdvent Mar 14 '26
I saw somewhere on the news that they are considering doing the French Foreign Legion method too to attract other serviceman from other nations to Canada.
1
u/gamercast1337 Mar 14 '26
Attracting foreign military to join ours i believe is what they are doing ... Isn't French foreign legion an entirely separate entity from the regular French military though? Like to the point its almost a mercenary thing compared to the regular forces? I know if you do your time / get injured you get to become a citizen but still.
While we are just directly hiring them into the regular CAF, if I understand it properly? That doesnt seem like a good idea because of loyalties, state secrets etc. Feels like the mercenary part of the FFL but without the, well, entire separation part .
Now I could be wrong and I'd love to be corrected .

We have a similar collection (you have a few more rifles, I have a few more pistols), and we're both not embarrassed to have a cat house in our possession hahahaha. On a serious note, this is great post (pics & text). Keep them all. We're safe, we're trained and we acquired them legally. These works of art/craftsmanship are our property and they're safer in our hands than anywhere else. Hold the line guys. We're all in this together.

Well said bud. Im sitting on a pile of beauty as well. All I know is this, the government has attacked a mindset
more than anything , this is an attack on people who refused to be afraid of lifes riskier endeavours. taking the guns in more about pushing us into boxcars than anything to do about public safety. The lights burning out inside me. I would die to preserve the freedom God graced everyone to hold onto. I was always the eternal optimist, but this is different. We arent fighting back in the way it has to be done. The phukkers are stealing our souls. They know whats best for us as they hold the reigns of the next grievous trick they parlay onto us. These men who display all of their next moves for us to see, do not see a planet big enough for all of us. This is the litmus test for what direction we choose to go as a nation.... Find your courage.

That’s a lot of guns for one dude. Do you have a good range membership near ? Have you hunted for meat?
6
u/boozefiend3000 Mar 14 '26
Why does it matter if he shoots them or hunts with them? Collecting is a legitimate reason to have a firearms license in Canada
2

Was just curious. I’d ask the same question if I saw a room full of new shoes. Or boxes full of watches.

Would you ask the shoe person if theres good jogging trails around them and if they’ve ever run track and field?

u/GinnAdvent Mar 14 '26
Some people are collectors. You don't need a range membership to have a collection. Nor you need to hunt to have a collection either.

I live in a pretty remote part of town, so I do hunt (Can't legally hunt anything with 223 except for varmints tho, so most of the semiautos are just for range use/ IPSC). Me and my dad would hunt whitetail, rabbits, and grouse (so mostly smaller game) and fish from time to time as a family tradition
I do have a good range near me that I am a member of. Lately I have been enjoying shooting out on the crown lands more as the range is longer/ the view is wayyy nicer, plus I can shoot at beer cans/ tannerite/ steel, which is not allowed at my range

As legal eagles like Runkle of the Bailey keep telling people: stop posting pics of your collection on social media. It just gives them evidence of what you have.
