Application / Regulation advice Legalities to 3d print firearm parts

In Canada, what firearm-related things are legal to 3D print? I know receivers are illegal to print, but what about things like chassis and stocks?

As long as the chassis or stock doesn’t reclassify the firearm from one designation to another, nor is it a prohibited part (silencer, receiver, auto-switch etc), generally it’s ok (I urge more research as well, but that’s the general idea).

Also, in all technicality, you can take a non-restricted firearm and print scratch made parts that would make it restricted, but you’d need to submit the specs, photos, and related documents to the firearms lab, which would need to also be checked by a verifier before being issued a sub FRT. And thats IF they issue a sub FRT

if it needs to be registered (i.e. Restricted long gun), they will 100% issue you a sub-FRT.

Also, the RCMP CFP have their own verifiers as well, but having a local verifier is indeed easier.

While I realize registering things is a stupid idea in the current firearm climate, if it’s easy enough I may try it out to see and document the process (and yes I know what can be “cut” before it’s prohibited, and yes I know what can have parts swapped around before it’s restricted).

Yeah you can just get a 14" 870 or shockwave and buy a folding stock. Or chop a cheap Turkish semi's barrel to longer than 18" but shorter than 18.5". Then get it verified and they'll contact the RCMP for FRT and registration. 

If you manage to document the process and let everyone know, you'd be our hero!

Well, I made a video with a link on how to cut down a shotgun here in Canada (barrel and stock) so it’s not out of the realm of possibility to do the verifier and super SBS next! (I have the video link too to the cut down tutorial if anybody wants it)

I've seen some 14" Auto 5 barrels (as-manufactured, not cut) in the US... Maybe you can do that instead lol

My experience has been the local verifier can only verify a gun to existing FRT entries and thus is this useless here. In this scenario the tech lab will create the sub entry and verify based on your pictures and measurements all in one shot.
