Does the TM 22 Pro still need to be modded out of the box for this issue?

Yep, toonie "trick" still seems to be a good idea. The new buffer "helps" but that tiny rubber pad just gets beat into the dirt. Mine arrived jammed into the buffer tube already so the washer was necessary.

Grabbed a 1 inch washer from work and it fits perfectly flush. Some people reccomend grabbing a new plumbing washer to replace the cheap rubber pad that comes with it. If you went that route, it would only be a buck or 2 at your local hardware store 👍

The 3d printed one linked is cool, but ive heard of it getting beat up and destroyed relatively quickly too. No personal experience with it though.

Just a 1inch diameter washer will work? and have you replaced the rubber part or is that still stock just with a washer

Yep, 1 inch worked for me. Not sure on the thickness mine is though. I had a ton at work to pick from and just chose one that was as close to the same width as the toonie.

Keep the rubber, the washer just goes between the face of the buffer tube and the rubber.

Not what I was saying.

I had mentioned that replacing the cheap little rubber pad with a more durable one was a good idea.

The washer goes BEHIND the rubber pad between it and the buffer tube to prevent the buffer tube from cutting into the rubber further.

Yes using a even thicker and harder rubber piece to circumvent the need for a washer would be even more ideal, but not necessarily everyone can get access to the specific hardness of rubber needed to prevent being cut into, and also still soft enough to dampen the bolt.

Edit* just incase you didn't know, a plumbing washer is just hardened rubber 👍

What harness rubber would this require? I could probably source it out and get a bunch clicked out if there's a market.

I used a stack of three brass 1" washers behind my Derya rubber disc.

The reason for three was to achieve the vertical indexing of the buffer tube when I screwed that back on.

-a single 1" washer rotated the buffer tube about 120 degrees from vertical with no slack behind the washer.

-two washers rotated the buffer tube by maybe 240 degrees from vertical.

-three brass washers were near perfect for aligning the buffer tube vertically and leaving no empty space behind the brass washers. ​And the buffer tube join still consumed a lot of thread, so no concerns about weakening the rear stock connection. ​

Oh cool this is is pretty cheap well not as cheap as a toonie or washer but not bad at like 14$

No doubt. I was even reading the description. They used 3 different materials for no reason as well. A simple 100% infil ASA or even PETG would be fine.

Hell, a solid TPU chunk would do the job as a cheap wear item.
