Buy recommendations decision making

so I'm trying to decide what to go with, the RF-224 or the 10/22?? the 224 comes cool looking, easy on the wallet the 10/22 is super reliable and been around much longer but has much more aftermarket friendly parts (not sure how shipping from states to Ontario would go, or if there is a reputable Canadian site/store) any help, advice, or recommendations would be super helpful.

Is this your first semi-auto 22lr? If yes, go with the 10/22. I say this because you don't want to be dealing with jams or misfeeds on your first few trips. It's not a pleasant experience having to source the "right" ammo.

A new 10/22 can be had for less than the RF224. The US has export restrictions and it's easier to just source it from a Canadian store.

ya, it will be my first, I'm leaning more towards the 10/22, that way I can slowly build it the way I want, but still thinking about it,
