Gun and gear reviews Mosin
Iv recently secured this beautiful mosin thst has been butchered, im in search of parts to get this beautiful peice running again. Where is the best place to look for replacement parts.

That’s an m91 mosin that was captured by the Finnish army. It’s the rarer m91 pattern (as opposed to the m91/30 that was used throughout ww2) so getting parts is going to be challenging. It also has had its barrel cut so if you want to restore it you need to replace that. IMO it’s not worth restoring unless you want to make a replica 1907 carbine. Sorry OP but this one is probably going to remain a sporter

Switzer’s auctions is usually a good hub for random unobtainable parts. Problem is you’re betting against others who want those too

Yeah lol I mean iv seen trigger sear kits but I was told by a good friend that some parts might not be compatible. Basically need a new stock trigger sear kit and would like the proper full length barrel l.

91/30 parts are much more common. Might be able to make those parts work. If not I would leave it as is.

You used to be able to get a ton of parts from russia on ebay. I got a set of older style barrel bands, a butplate and sling eyelets straight from russia.

I'd take a guess that they cost way more now and are harder to get lol

You do have a nice hex reciever with clear markings, konovalov rear sights (those might be in archens instead of meters).
You should take the stock off to check for rust, this is a good candidate to learn some gunsmithing since you wont hurt its value at all.
If you find rust you can boil the rusty parts in plain water to convert the red rust back into black oxide then brush with a brass brush (steel will strip the blueing) to flake off the pitted or encrusted rust then repeat the boiling. once you are satisfied you can dip the parts in kerosene or diesel or used motor oil (not fresh since the additives can strip the finish).

Yes I ended up taking the rifle apart was super easy, no rust underneath i cleaned up the bolt and magazine. I did learn that I need more than a sear now the trigger was also grinded down but I found a kit for that. Im looking into getting a replacement stock but im unsure if the internals will transfer over. I'd like to get a full length barrel even if I have to get a gunsmith to make one, like to avoid that. I'd like to restore the rifle.

Most of the internals can interchange easily between stocks, inletting and glass bedding are easy skills to learn and make your gun better.
You can get prefit barrels for mosins for 500-600$ but at that price you can get a whole other mosin.

No where really unless you're gonna buy another rifle and gut that for this one. Spare parts are sparse and don't pop up all that often. Looks like the barrel was cut too, so it's a moot point anyways. Hope you didn't pay more than a couple hundred, if that.
