Shooting Sunday Gunday - Ruger M77

Older tang-safety model in 300winmag. It was my late father’s and I try to put some rounds through it for his sake when I can. Canadian Tire generously had some PPU 300WM on for $30/box so out it came for some shooting.

I’ll take a wood stock with some experience markers on the stock over a plastic stock any day.

I’d like to refinish it one day but I’m a bit worried about the checkering looking off versus the rest. I’d probably farm the job out to an experienced local.

Your call. I think it looks just fine. It’s not damaged, just used, like any tool.

I’ve kept it as-is for that reason. It may not have shot many moose, but it made a lot of trips through the bush with my dad. I was more leaning towards an oil finish than a glossy finish if I was to do it.
