I hate you because I want one and I’m jealous. I should stop buying multiple SKS and buy one of those instead.

This is the only appropriate AR cope IMO. I hate these tactical looking straight pull or pump guns personally. Cool gun dude.

Opinion rejected. Buy both.

Lever action just sucks for shooting prone.

6

u/dgod40 Mar 05 '26

That's why the taipan is the best of the cope world. Straight pull for prone, pump for standing/action. At least IMHO.

Mine is super accurate to the point that it’s the perfect range gun and coyote pest control in one package. This package still looks awesome and I’m jelly tho.

u/dgod40 Mar 05 '26

Sonos mine. I love it. Do you have a muzzle device on it? I just bought a S&J linear comp and was going to put it on. 556 doesn't really have much recoil so I didn't think a muzzle break was necessary.

u/NewWatchTime Mar 05 '26

Jerking off your AR is just weird to me. SKS superiority.

1

u/NewWatchTime Mar 05 '26

Yeah, I’ve never shot mine prone. I personally went with a gunsight scout for my cope rifle.

u/Q-Ball7 In the end, it's taxes all the way down Mar 06 '26

People who complain lever actions are bad when prone are, if not simply repeating the meme without thinking, either under the belief that bench shooting and prone shooting are the same thing, or are complaining that the gun doesn't let them get away with bad form when prone.

The thing about prone is that, if you're doing it properly, you're up so high that you could fit an entire 30 round mag under the gun and still have space underneath. The arm that isn't actively holding you up in that position is the one operating the action (but moving the arm that is puts you at a disadvantage, which is part of why pump-action rifles have problems in this position).

This is high enough that levers won't hit the ground, and when using that same magazine in the Supreme in particular, it even serves as a stop which makes it impossible to hold the gun in a position where the lever will hit the ground.

Sucks less than a pump action.

Shooting prone better off having a bolt gun anyway. More accurate then a ar barrel

1

u/mischling2543 Mar 06 '26

Yeah same. In general, manual actions should be wood furniture imo

2

u/NewWatchTime Mar 06 '26

Yup, completely agree. Unless it’s a cool bolt action or shotgun.

u/FedInformant Mar 06 '26

Fuck I wish these weren't so expensive

I believe the 5 round rule only applies to semi-automatic centerfire rifles.

2

u/buck70 Mar 05 '26

The rule applies to the mag itself if it can be used in a semi-automatic rifle. If a mag can be used in a centerfire semi-auto rifle, it must be pinned to 5rds or the mag is prohibited. This is why bolt rifles that take AR mags suck in Canada.

Fun fact, this also applies to pistols in Canada; because Ruger sold about a total of 5 Charger pistols in Canada, and the Charger takes 10/22 mags, all Ruger 10/22 mags in Canada are limited to 10 rounds :(

They're talking about rules for importing the gun into the country, not rules for magazine capacity in general.

Bill C21 banned the import of newly designed semi automatic rifles designed to use magazines over 5 rounds in capacity.

The 10/22 issue is a bullshit interpretation by the RCMP, the 10/22 30 round magazine predates the Charger pistol and was not designed for use in it and shouldn't be affected by that law.

1

u/buck70 Mar 06 '26

I see. How the fuck does the RCMP determine if a semi-auto rifle is "designed" to use mags with over 5 rounds? I mean can't a manufacturer just say that their rifle is designed for 5-rd PMAGs? "Oh no, what do you mean officer? It isn't designed for the 30-rd mags, only the five round versions!".

1

u/chillyrabbit Mar 05 '26

There were approximately 200 register ruger charger pistols in canada.

1

u/Dickastigmatism Mar 06 '26

It's a lever action, bill C21 doesn't affect it.

-1

u/julienjj Mar 05 '26

The capacity over 5 is unenforceable. They just deliver you a gun without a mag or with a mag made for 5.
Unless they can do mind reading, any gun can be stated to be designed for 5 and less. That the footprint can take more is just a happy accident.

6

u/eldaniay Mar 05 '26

That is not how the law works bro. They will absolutely enforce it.

2

u/Dickastigmatism Mar 06 '26

That's not how it works, not even a little bit.

The gun is allowed to be imported under C21 because it is not semi automatic.

u/julienjj Mar 06 '26

So let's say i'm ABC firearm corp

I invent the new bubba 556 semi.

I commercialize my bubba 556 along a magpull 5 round stanag mag.

That's my design intent.

Sure YOU the consumer can fit a 5/30.

But my design intent is 5.

It's a new law that is untested in court. One could almost say for all intend and purpose all rifles are designed to take 5 rounds or less, since a 6 round or more does not exist in canada.

Think the opposite, if ABC firearm design a rifle where 5 rounds or less CANNOT fit, but a 6 rounds does, then we are certain it is designed for more than 5 rounds.

2

u/Dickastigmatism Mar 06 '26 edited Mar 06 '26

If it goes to court they're siding with feds. It's pretty clear that the intent of the law was to prevent new semi auto guns that share magazine compatibility with assault rifles from hitting the Canadian market. If by some crazy chance the court didn't rule in favor of the government I think all you could expect is the law is null for a few days while Gary and Mark draft an OIC to change the wording. I'm not a lawyer, I might be wrong, I hope I am, but I really don't think there's a gotcha here.

2

u/barthammer Mar 05 '26

These are pretty cool. Have you taken it out yet?

I've watched a few reviews, and the main complaint is how hot the barrel gets under repeated shooting.

3

u/sargentmyself al Mar 06 '26

Barrel I think was mainly an issue with shooting repeated full 30 round magazines, should be much less of an issue for most of us stuck with 5 or 10s

2

u/barthammer Mar 06 '26

Ahhhh right.

How could I forget that up here rivets save lives!?

3

u/AddressFeeling3368 Mar 05 '26

This will be Canada's gun. Outpacing even the sks in a few years if the gun preforms like it should.

4

u/Dickastigmatism Mar 06 '26 edited Mar 06 '26

I have some doubts about that, this thing is $1700, SKSs were sold for less than $300 for like 25 years before COVID and bans drove prices up.

1

u/escv_69420 Mar 05 '26

Someone really needs to make MRX mags fit in this

1

u/Cope180-Enjoyer Mar 05 '26

No last round bolt hold open tho.....

4

u/jaredw6697 Mar 06 '26

Its a lever….

2

u/escv_69420 Mar 06 '26

I'd much rather have 15 more rounds than a BHO, and on a lever gun of all things.

1

u/Unfair_Valuable_3816 Mar 05 '26

bolt actions and lever actions are the safest from gary. geuss they arent scary lol

2

u/Lopsided_Ad3516 Mar 05 '26

Spelled "Mark" wrong. Gary doesn't have any power. Just another sycophantic mouthpiece for the Party.

1

u/rhyno857 Mar 06 '26

Is there enough meat on the sides of the magwell to machine them to fit MRX mags?

1

u/PreppyPoo Mar 06 '26

I have one of these. Smooth and well built.

1

u/thats-inappropriate Mar 06 '26

I just found a purpose for all those 556 rounds I bought

1

u/2_of_Everything Mar 06 '26

Does it take cross mags ?

1

u/ClubDeTirDeMontreal Club de Tir de Montreal (Verified) Mar 06 '26

yup

1

u/Nate-Foulkes Apr 12 '26

Nice gun looking at the same one rn, is the magazine capped at 5 rounds? Or can you run a 30round mag on it?

Username checks out. It might actually be one of the uglier levers imo
