Had a weird experience where a sketchy guy took me into the basement of his house and led me into a small dark room to look at his M1. Turned out to be a nice dude and had a great collection and deal went perfectly, but as I was walking down his steps I couldn't help thinking this is the perfect trap

Literally my first time buying a gun private sale was the same. Old dude leads me down the stairs to his downstairs bedrooms. Dark as. Suddenly the lights turn on and it’s a glorious display of all things milsurp. The danger feeling vanished when the kid in the candy store feeling rushed in. Still deal with him to this day (and he’s kicking Parkinson’s ass while he’s at it)

Good idea when doing deals with people online is to tell people you love the address you're meeting someone at and what time they should expect you home.

Then let the person who you're buying from know that you did that. there's a few ways you can do so without sounding completely paranoid and anti-social. You can try pinning the paranoid behaviour on a loved one instead like "ugh, man my partner/parents/roomate is super paranoid about meeting strangers, Every time I use marketplace or kijiji or whatever I've gotta tell them the exact address im going to and when i'm gonna be home. Sometimes they make me share my location with them in real time. So I can't hang for too long lest they have a panic attack lol."

if someone WAS thinking of kidnapping you and harvesting your organs, they would probably think twice.

Lol yea upstairs of the time its just their driveway/garage.

My first ever pistol i purchased was out at a skeet range parking lot. But said range was only open like a few days a month.

So there was nobody there and its just 2 shitty beater cars pulling up, and we pop our trunks and swap some guns and cash. It was kinda surreal

I had a guy with great ratings on GP ask him to meet in front of an address but specified not to knock. Turns out he just doesn't like having people come to his house, but then by the time I got turned around to leave he was walking into his own house. 😂

Could of had a sleeping child in the house as well or loud dogs. I have a friend who has a combination of both so when I go to see him its a text and he will come out and walk in with me so the dogs dont freak out and make the child cry type of situation

Spoke like some who has no idea about life outside of a city. My nearest gun store is a four hour drive one way, BASS PRO is 2 hours one way and most ranges have rules about not having unncased firearms anywhere except the firing line

I contacted my local police about this very thing and they gave the thumbs up. They just mentioned it being a good idea to let someone in the station know.

Yeah south side Cabelas is my go to, i figure the amount of times I've bought a used gun out of the gun library and they sent me on the way with no box or case or anything, just walking across the parking lot with a bare gun, they probably chill with a private firearm sale

I honestly find P&D has better prices and selection for guns and ammo. The brutal part is trying to get there and park when the only vehicle you own are trucks

Probably a good idea to bring a case in the future. I once did this, bought a rifle at a store, I even put it in a case before walking to my vehicle about 100ft away and I had someone call the cops on me!

Cops didn't bother showing up until about 2 weeks later, showed up at my door asking to see the gun and license. They were pretty chill about it and said they had to check because they got called. I assume the person called all hysterical and said "I just saw someone putting a rifle into their vehicle!!! Here's their license plate!! Go get them!!!"

Granted this was in the city, and I've since moved to a more rural area and don't think twice about loading guns up into my truck every weekend now.

I prefer my house or alleyways sold a couple gen 2 wk180c (when they first hit the market and were desirable) in residential alleys- neighbour walking his dog had his interest piqued).Fun to LARP as Nic cage in Lord of war, dropping the tailgate for a good salesman pitch…..police station would be the last place I’d go. Those are for people that can’t seem to sell their iPhone without getting jumped 😅

Not quite sure about your area. I set up a sale of pistol slide with a correction officer years ago. Met in the exchange zone at my local police department. Smooth transaction and we met one of the working officers, super chill lady.
