Sorry if I'm splitting hairs here, how can you tell it's a C7 and not an m16a2?

But isn't the C7's carry handle sight just the same as the M16A1's? It could easily be a A1 pattern receiver with an A2 handguard.

It still could be a C7, but there's really nothing I'm seeing here that makes that more likely than any other early Colt carry handle variant.

The C7 has a brass deflector with the A1 field sight.
You can just make out the shape of a brass deflector on both rifles in the picture - mostly with how the light reflects off of the receiver, and resulting shadows.
The rifle in the middle has a small bit of bare aluminum where the finish has worn off the outer edge of deflector.

I think that if Canada is so down on guns, we should also restrict the film and tv industry from using replicas in production in Canada. If the entertainment and news industry are going to hate on firearms, they should stop using them in their products.

I have a fiend who's one of the weapons handlers for the show. There were NO C7 used on this production

Barrel profile out past the front sight almost looks too thin to be a c7/m16a2 barrel.

Looks more like an A1 pencil barrel than the HBAR of the C7 and M16A2. But the upper is definitely the C7/Colt 715.

Exactly. The Canadian Forces never had the skinny barrels used on the M16A1's. During the 80's the USMC was working on a product improvement program for the M16A1 and a liason officer from the Canadian Forces was present to relay information to Canada's Rifle Replacement Program. Initially Canada wanted to use the HBAR profile barrels instead of the M16A2 profile barrel, but for some reason I can't find, that wasn't possible. So Diemaco developed a cold hammer forged, chrome lined barrel with the same external barrel profile as the one used on the M16A2. The profile of the barrel is slimmer from the chamber to the gas block than it is from the gas block to the muzzle. The barrel on the rifle in the picture appears to be too skinny to be the barrel used on the C7. The receiver however does seem to fit the design used on the C7. That said, the process of changing an AR15's barrel is very simple. Given this is a tv show and the rifles are firing blanks, there do not appear to be blank firing adapters, I would assume the armourers who supplied these rifles most likely started with a C7 and replaced the barrels with an M16A1 barrel that has been modified to fire blanks.
