Fix my gun CZ 457 Varmint - is this normal?
I just received this (new to me) cz 457 in 17 hmr and wondering if this is normal or not.
The barrel is just not centered and cannot be centered in the forend, and it’s a bit wobbly.
There is no wobbling between barrel and action, and it just seems this synthetic stock is bending under plain finger pressure so maybe got crooked by previous owner.
Hopefully this makes sense…
I did have a longer term plan to switch to mdt oryx but maybe this needs to happen earlier than I thought…

Slide a peice of paper under the barrel, if the barrel is free floated it’ll be fine just torque the actions screws to spec

I would break it all the way down and put it back together with proper torque specs and blue locktight. Might fix any misalignment between the stock and action?

Yeah I partially did… at least to the point where I thought it is irrelevant like trigger assembly. It’s as if the stock was warped maybe

As long as there's no play between the action and stock, it'll shoot fine. It's just ugly. Most cheap polymer rifle stocks are super flimsy and don't always align with the action unless you do some kind of bedding job.
The MDT would be a massive upgrade in the stiffness of the stock, which is a major reason why chassis systems are so common in precision rifle shooting.

I was going to buy a 457 varmint mtr id been eying at cabelas and when I looked at it I noticed this problem as well. The gap between the stock and the barrel was wider on one side. I didn't buy that one because of it
Didn’t notice anything wobbly though. Never ended up buying one of those. I’m sure it’s still a great gun.

Old post but I can across it and thought I'd mention that you will want to loose the action screws and torque to specs. When doing so you can put a little pressure on one side of the barrel to center it. It's just a cosmetic thing.

My 452 Varmint was like that as well. It was still floated and was the most accurate .22 I ever owned, a better rifle as a whole than my Anschutz. Just a CZ thing I guess.

Hahaha yeah my 4th cz but first with the plastic stock and haven’t had this problem before but thanks all great people here for their inputs !!!

Mine does the same and it shoots great!
