Are you seriously asking why the criminal background of a man that was being charged with assault is relevant?

Because he has a history of assault.

Macdonald was the victim. An armed intruder broke into his home at 3am. His criminal history has no relevance on this case. The intruder's past criminal is relevant, but CBC focused on the victim's history. Typical and abhorrent writing.

If anything, Macdonald having a history of violence and being prepared to defend himself without hesitation may have saved his life.

He beat a man with a baseball bat. He went to jail. Thats why it took so long for the charges to drop. Thats why the CBC mentioned it. Do you not want them to give the full picture?

Are you saying if he didn't have a prior conviction the charges would have been dropped earlier? For what reason?

I double checked to make sure I hadn't misread something, but I hadn't. The assault with a baseball bat was in 2001 and did not involve Breen. That conviction has nothing to do with defending himself in his own home and I fail to see how it adds to a fuller picture of the incident in 2025.

He was in prison for assault and he was now again charged for assault. Of course its relevant and would take longer. They have to check with his parole officer and check that he didn't have anything outstanding and that he didn't breach any other orders.

The guys a criminal which means theres another list of shit they have to check out.
