See this is what they do (but not as egregiously in this case) - they drag you through court hearings and make you pay for lawyers but when push comes to shove, they drop the charges. Can’t have someone found innocent and set a precedent. The process is the punishment.

Dude they dropped the charges before it got to that point and the guy defending himself has a criminal past. The legal system worked exactly like its supposed to here.

Nah, police can do their investigation and not press charges

The police dont decide that by themselves mans a criminal with a past of assault. Of course they charged him until they figured out what happened.
