When my mom (a good gal from the city) moved in with my dad (typical country kid) and ended up moving to his small town (sometime in the 80s if i remember right, maybe very early 90s), she was so worried that her abuser would find out where she lived and would come to the house when dad wasnt home. She went to the police station and asked the cop there what she should do, she was terrified of this scenario and she already had a restraining order on the guy. the cop just asked "you married a farm boy didnt you? Doesn't farm boy have a shotgun?" "Well yeah" "so get some shells and shoot him if he shows up and tries to get in the house, you've got long running documented history, you'll win that one any day of the week 🤷♂️".
She said she never worried about it again
What a far way we've come
