See this is what they do (but not as egregiously in this case) - they drag you through court hearings and make you pay for lawyers but when push comes to shove, they drop the charges. Can’t have someone found innocent and set a precedent. The process is the punishment.

There's not much of a precedent set in low courts anyway. Now, if it gets appealed, then yeah, there's potential for a precedent setting case.

I do agree that it's wrong to charge people when the likelihood of a conviction is low. That is not how the system should work.
