Get out and hit the range!

I know folks have been pretty built up over the recent announcements, sometimes we gotta just put that down for a minute and hit the range!

It's ammo testing day for me!

I was testing SK Match and it seemed to shoot very consistent for me. Grouped really tight too.

I've used SK Match and HV in the past, I just didn't like how greasy it felt but the groups were solid for sure.

I wasn't getting great groups with SK High Velocity on this rifle though, 10/22 footprint do be picky. My Kidd rifle eats it up no problem though.

Good to know, my Oryx chassis just arrived today, I'm coincidently putting together a 10/22 build over the next few weeks.

I do have a question—the Oryx chassis has a white washer holding in the main bolt, but my receiver won’t drop into the chassis with the washer in place. Is the white washer supposed to be removed from the bolt, or is it only there to retain the bolt in the box?

I'd have to look at it again, I don't remember having a white washer, I just had a metal washer and action screws. Should just be flip it, drop it in, hold it up to the sky and screw it in while applying downward pressure (and whatever torque spec it is, 60lb probably)

When you're installing it, it sounds wierd but you need to 'face' the rifle so the barrel is pointing to the sky. This way the inletting will pull itself down as you apply pressure so that your receiver stays in place.

As for why it's not fitting, that's odd because my 10/22 dropped in without issue, it's a Volquartsen receiver but it should be the same footprint.

I noticed that on older YouTube videos, the screw and metal washer come in a "parts" bag - no white nylon washer inside the chassis. However, mine came with the screw + metal washer screwed into a white removable washer in the chassis.

I'm 99% sure I'm supposed to remove the white washer since the receiver won't slide in otherwise - it's off by a few 5mm or so. The manual also does not seem to reference the nylon washer either.

I just took another look at my rifle, I don't have a white washer at all.

So you should be fine to just install it with the screw and metal washer.
