10+ 10/22
Hey lads, here's an instructional video on clip loading the Dlask Tuff-22 mags. Since learning the right technique these have worked exceptionally well for me. Using the stripper clips offers a few very nice perks, mainly speed of reloading an empty mag. Although they're also easier to load with gloves/cold fingers and the spare clips can be reloaded by a friend while the mag is in use. If you find the clip system isn't worth the hassle you've still got a high quality reliable 25 round mag with a follower button to assist in loading. 1400rnds+ only 4 malfunctions through my 10/22 TD. I've shot a lot of 22LR semis and I've had the most fun with the least headaches using my (heavily modded) 10/22. These 4 mags which come with 2 clips each and I bought a 5 pack of clips too (13 clips total) allow me to shoot 280 rounds before needing to crack another box of ammo.
Suffice it to say I feel the cost of having my receiver modded to accept them and the price of the mags themselves was WELL worth it. As I've shown here you can save a few bucks by not getting the speed loader too! Feel free to ask any questions you might have and I'll do my best to answer them.
Enjoy extended mags, plink on, run drills, and put some respect on the ol' Ruger 10/22 my dudes haha.

I wish you all the best with those things. Personally, I will never touch them with a ten foot pole again.
I invested a decent bit of money in them, and despite picking with them for close to a year, they got the heave. It's a shame; they're well built, definitely not cheap, and the rifle I wanted to use them in will eat anything, and I've never had any issues, before or since. These mags NEVER functioned properly.

Wow that sucks! Sorry to hear that was your experience, I'd be curious to hear more about it. My 4 mags have proven to be very reliable running in summer and winter at fast rates of fire with multiple different ammo types.
Were they Gen 1's? Did you try loading them normally (1 round at a time)? Who cut your receiver? Did you have more than one mag giving you issues? I'm just curious about the specifics, not trying to suggest it was your fault or anything.

Can you use normal Ruger mags still?

Hell yeah this is the comment I've been waiting for, they are indeed AWESOME! I say this as someone who's owned many 22LR semis, Rem 597, GSG MK22, GSG16 (16") and a CMMG conversion kit for my AR. I felt that many people must not be aware of these mags so I wanted to do a little PSA post with the proper loading technique. I can update you right now though haha, I don't post my gear until I can speak from experience about it l.
I got 4 mags in February, since then my rifle doesn't leave the range without shooting 280 rounds, often double that, some days more if I'm bringing guests. I meant to keep a better round count going but it's been 1400rnds minimum (without cleaning and on some days -15c weather) and I've had a total of 4 mag related malfunctions. This is exceptional reliability for a rimfire semi in my experience. I think the round count starting from Feb is closer to 2200+ but I can't swear to it as I buy my ammo by the case and have many other guns chambered in 22LR.
This doesn't affect your ability to use OEM mags, the modification merely removes enough material to accommodate the protrusion on the front side of the mag. Take a look at the link I posted in another comment for specifics.
Finally in the interest of full disclosure I'll mention my only complaints with these mags. 1) they don't drop free, however I think the fall would damage them so this isn't the worst thing. 2) they won't fit nicely in mag pouches. I run drills in a chest rig, likely not a big deal for most people. 3) the stripper clips on their own once loaded I think could be damaged by crushing or bending forces. So if you want to transport them loaded I'd recommend finding an appropriate storage solution like I demonstrated.

1) not concerned about the mags not dropping out. Do they pull out fairly easy though? You donāt need a secret handshake to get them out, right?
2) mag pouches, good to know, not really an issue.
3) figured, but general build quality is ok for the mag?
4) was going to order the 4pk of mags, do they come with two strippers each?

1) Yes light downward pressure or a bump from the fresh mag Blyat style is sufficient. Insertion is where it feels a tad awkward. It can be done at 90Ā° but feels a bit clunky. Seems that the plunger style mag catch takes it smooter with a mild AK "rock and lock" angle to the mag. This comes intuitively with the angled mag I find.
2) Fair enough my dude. My AR conversion kit used black dog mags that were basically polymer GI's super solid and slick so I miss that a bit. I opted to remove the bullet trough on the side of the mag body that can be used to hold a reload for the clip, this slimmed them down a bit.
3) Build quality impressed me. 4 coated maybe stainless Allan bolts/nuts hold it together. Metal parts where it matters (feed lips, follower button core, locking latch pin, etc) seems like quality polymer. The real magic happens inside though. It uses a spring design like no other I've seen. It's like a little rug with the spool captured in the mag follower button! It unrolls against the mag body's inner edge as the follower is pulled downward. Best of all the follower itself floats through the mag with very little contact/friction, which can be a source of reliability issues with 22LR mags. A word of caution DO NOT REMOVE THE SPRING! I tried this and it was a BIG mistake, it's obviously installed using a jig. Simply wiping the debris off it when the follower is locked down with clip removed has worked well for me.
4) 4 mag pack is a good call in my opinion, more reasonable price. 2 clips per mag.

Happy to help! I'm curious to know how you've set up your 10/22?
My dude, I cannot stress enough that no good can come from removing that spring š Reinstallation required 4 hands and a scary amount of tension on a piece of metal with enough stored energy to slice your finger open. No beuno, no need to do it too either as I've learned. Cleaning the front side of the spring is dead simple. To wipe the reverse just slip a patch between it and the mag body then shimmy it along. Very simple, minimal hassle.

Iāve got a takedown, and honestly Iām pretty pleased with it. Upgraded all of the little things->buffer pads (meh), trigger (bx1-awesome), bolt release. I hated the stock and just got a new one from adaptive tactical that feels phenomenal (tk22), this took it from a gun that was too small for me to one that feels like a rifle. I put the stock on but I havenāt used it yet.
My intent for the gun was to learn to shoot, shoot cheaply (omg why did I get a type 81), and to have something I can hit varmint at 100y. Iām happy to hit the 5ā gong because gophers arenāt little. 5000 rounds in or so and Iām just getting starting to shoot for accuracy, as much as I can with this thing. Messing around with all different types of ammo atm, trying to find a favourite.
I want to get these 25 mags because 10 rounds just isnāt enough for plinking, Iād prefer to carry 2 mags rather than 5 if I ever do go hunting, and I think the gov is going to make it super hard, somehow, to get these ordered in the near future.

Good call man. 22LR is a great way to get training reps in cheaply. I've customized mine so much you can hardly tell what it is haha. I like researching and modding almost as much as shooting these days. Personally mine's been great reliability wise with CCI SV and Blazer. I just have an RDS on it and have been shooting drills inside 50yds so I can't speak to what ammo will group the best for you. Enjoy the rifle though man, can't go wrong with the 10/22 in my opinion, especially if you're going to do some mods to get it set up right for you.

Shipped my rifle off to Dlask. They told me it would take a month due to backlog. They received it this morning, modded it this afternoon, and are shopping it back tomorrow.
No complaints there!

You mentioned v1 and v2 mags. How do you tell the difference?
Iāve got 2 black ones that jam repeatedly if I use the stripper, and 2 yellow ones that are great. Is that the difference?

For those who love to say ājust drill out the rivetā on the Ruger extended mags, I have to terrible luck and donāt fuck around when it comes to laws.
If I were to touch that rivet, while I was doing it my house would get swatted, but accidentally because of an address screw up, and Iād somehow end up in prison.
So $60 to mod the gun? Sounds good!
Canāt wait to release the spring.

You've got impeccable taste! This was created by a talented local glass blower who was doing all kinds of them for a while. This method allowed him to extend it a tad and put a nice rolled/flared edge at the top, so it fits a bottle perfectly. I've seen DIY kits online that'll allow you to cut bottles yourself but you'll have a straight/sharp edge that'll need sanding and it likely won't be able to hold the full bottle.
If there's a will there's a way though, might be worth a try man!

Aight, so apparently nobody else got to it. The summary is:
- detachable centerfire magazines are limited to five rounds if designed for a long gun
- detachable rimfire magazines are not capacity limited
- any detachable magazine that is designed for a pistol (as determined by the RCMP) is limited to ten rounds, whether centerfire or rimfireSome examples of where it gets confusing:
- Relevant here; 10/22 mags over ten rounds became prohibited devices in 2016 because the RCMP decided they were designed for the 10/22 Charger pistol, despite the pistol having been available since 2007
- Ten round LAR-15, Crossmags CM10, etc. mags are allowed in rifles, because they're designed as pistol magazines, likewise with all the PCCs that use normal pistol magazineThe law is kind of always in flux, so if you've got something in a grey area it's a good idea to keep half an eye on a news source for gun law changes, cause the CFP is abysmal at communicating changes despite their legal obligation to do so

Damn, that's making me cringe haha.
The only military use I'm aware of with the 10/22 is the IDF using integrally suppressed variants for crowd control. Definitely not an assault weapon no matter what you do to them lmao. I do like it for a training/drill rifle though since my AR conversion kit has been deemed a weapon of mass destruction.

Hmm interesting, sounds similar to the American 180 22LR submachine gun. It was like a Thompson with a top loading pan mag, blistering rate of fire too (1500rpm+) A pair of cops used one to defeat a couple armed robbers in a vehicle pursuit, pretty wild.

How do you go about getting a 10/22 receiver to accept these?

The mags have a small nub on the front facing edge that prevents insertion into a regular receiver. If you already own an OEM 10/22 Dlask will cut the receiver to accept them for $60. There are aftermarket receivers made for them too, namely Dlask and SBI although there may be others.
My advice would be to have a gunsmith do it. I'm sure it is relatively simple if you know how to work with metal but I wanted Dlask to do the work so I had recourse if it was unreliable.
