What historical (pre 1990) Soviet/Chinese or US/Canada rifles can be purchased in Canada and be good hunting rifles (mainly for deer, elk, or black bears)?

SKS is an excellent deer gun.

SKS and Mosin are solid bets. 7.62x39 is plenty appropriate for deer and black bears, and 7.62x54R is appropriate for larger game like elk, moose, and larger bears
