If you can get a legitimate answer to this question from the Canadian government you will be 1 step closer than anyone else in our society.

They essentially say these “assault rifles” are designed for and used by mass killers. Only criminals need these firearms, they have no other practical farm use, if they ban legal guns then the illegal guns will magically disappear.

Every argument is counterintuitive or misleading, and those who are in charge of the list used questionable sources (like this Reddit page presumably) to create the ban list, up to and including a brand of BRCC coffee because the individual must have thought it was a firearm.

Another specifically mentioned firearm is the buttmaster, a one of a kind firearm made as a joke and would have been prohibited just by its characteristics.

Long story short, it’s all making as many political gains out of tragedy’s as they can.

Thanks for the explanation. It all seems nonsensical and, unfortunately, I am not one step closer to understanding some sound rationale for doing this. Everything seems to be pointing towards political gain, which it too bad.
