Looking for some advice?

Hey everyone, just taking a shot in the dark here but I'm a new PAL owner and just wondering which firearm I should buy. I'm torn between 4 options.

American Ranch Rifle 7.62x39mm 16.12″ FDE

Russian SKS Surplus W/ATI Stock 7.62x39mm 20″ FDE

Chiappa M1-9 NSR Carbine 9mm 19″ Black Non-Restricted

Federation Firearms SPM-12 Magazine-Fed Pump 12 Gauge 18.7″ Black

As of right now I'm just looking for a firearm I can take to the range for some fun inexpensive shooting. I'm probably going to look in to hunting in a couple of years. Any thoughts would be awesome.

Also depends on the range, an indoor range probably prohibits steel core, bimetallic, any shotgun load other than slugs.

Chinese SKS, original stock.

I’d lean towards the Ruger. You can shoot surplus for cheap but if you did want to hunt with it, you can as well, with a different load (assuming that calibre is allowed in your WMU).

One other thought is to start with a .22 and learn the basics of shooting for very cheap. I guarantee every single person on this thread owns a .22

I'd start with the SKS as they present a great value but also seem to be increasing in price at a higher rate than most other firearms.

Grab a bolt gun and shotgun after the sks to round out the trio.

9mm PCC and .223 Semi auto would be my next choices, followed by a lever for plinking (.357) and a larger hunting lever (30-30/45-70).

I do have a question on this topic so if I buy say a tavor and it becomes prohib about a week after what’s the course of action from then on I’m genuinely scared of investing into anything the gov deems “scary” and don’t want to drop 2k on a decent gun only for it to become illegal to own afterwards

If it's prohibited it will legally become a safe queen until some point in the future where the LPC actually puts together a buy back (very unlikely) or we see a change in government which will reverse these bans.

You're not a typical Canadian Gun owner until you have atleast 1 or 2 prohibs in your gun safe waiting for better days.

Buy and enjoy what you want now, no one knows what tomorrow will bring.

Thanks I’m new to the whole pal stuff I just recently got it last month and I’m still figuring things out as I go and this is weirdly comforting knowing this thanks again this brings some clarity to this shitstorm of a situation we got going on

Personally I would recommend the ranch but in 5.56, little cleaner, almost as cheap if you want to save up your brass and one day load for yourself

When I got my pal 2 years ago, I jumped into reloading right away

Last year I shot only factory ammo

But this year I plan not to buy anymore factory ammo and shoot only what I have left and loads, which based on my shooting from next year I already have enough loaded up to do so for general plinking loads
