You could call up and see if they will give you your license number. Some stores will take just your number but a lot, especially these days, prefer to see plastic. It is best to just wait for the card to show up but if you see something that you really like and it might be out of stock soon you can always ask the store. Worst thing they can say is no but they may take a deposit and hold it for you in the mean time. A buddy of mine did this with a vector 2 years back.
