Just an update for everyone waiting for their PAL!

  • Application received December 15 2022
  • License was issued around Jan 15 or maybe a bit earlier.
  • Card received in mail yesterday (Feb 13)

Today I went out and bought myself a Tikka T1x 16” in .22lr that was traded in yesterday at my local shop. Was originally going to go CZ457, but at $630 the tikka felt right given I’m trying to not blow all my cash at once, especially considering it already came with a rail mounted! Not sure about the 16” length barrel, but compactness doesn’t hurt, and I don’t think will matter much to me accuracy wise since I’m not very skilled yet in the first place.

Now it’s scope time!

What province if you don't mind me asking?

Also how long after the initial review was complete did you get it issued?

I’m based in Ontario.

I don’t recall when the initial review happened. But it was about the halfway point. So about 2 weeks for review, two weeks to issue, and then about a month to get the card (likely due to design change delays etc.)

That's crazy, they received my application in the beginning of October and I still don't have it issued yet. It only says initial review complete and it's been a while.

Also in Ontario btw

It’s quite strange to me as well. I know people who’ve been waiting a year+ for theirs.

Fwiw I only applied for PAL. Not RPAL. I’m wondering if RPAL stuff is getting delayed or something, but honestly it’s kind of a wall at the rcmp so getting any info is quite challenging.

I’d suggest giving them a call every once in a while and politely seeing what’s up.

Give them a call Monday maybe. If you did RPAL I imagine it might be different timing - but best bet is to call them imo.
