This thread will be used for the "new"-type questions, PAL/RPAL applications, references, CFSC/CFRSC requirements, storage/transport, or other general "new-to-me" firearms ownership questions.
In response to this thread, the community was quite positive for a thread to cover these subjects.

it depends on the shot but it can be bad if its a slug or high power load, you’ll be fine but it could be unpleasant. if you are new get some 8/9 shot for trap as practice.
as for your firearm it will be fine, you can shoot anything out of that, just make sure you use a cylinder choke for slugs so they don’t get squished
